Having a hard time getting it together today and I have lots to do but not much to say so apart from this sentence I will just have my artwork up this time.
Cheers on a beautiful Saturday!

Super tired today but that is because I got more done yesterday than I usually get done on a Thursday so as I pull myself around the house I am singing.
I love music. I may not have a great voice but it isn’t that bad. Let’s see what I can get done today.
My goal of finally straightening out our new house after a lot of set backs seems possible.
I can see that end post!

I can’t believe I am finally going to the doctor for a check up. It has been well over a year since my last check up and I will be glad to go. I feel fine but I believe in preventive medicine. I especially believe in dental appointments. Neglected teeth are a huge health problem and I do not let that happen. I used to tease my mother about how well she took care of her teeth. The dentist we had when I was young told me her teeth were the cleanest teeth he had ever seen. Well, I doubt mine are as clean as hers but I really do work at it. I hate cleanings.
I am very pleased with a demo oil painting I did for Youtube. Some viewers want an actual painting demonstration but after all these years my methods are unique to me and don’t make any sense so I decided to use the methods I was taught to use ages ago and it turned out very well. I was surprised that I could paint something in the traditional thin to thick style and have something I liked without intense color complexity and a raised impasto surface. Painting is such a mysterious process – at least for me it is.
I am dragging my feet or rather staying away from my palette right now. I need to get serious about my latest figure painting and hope to do that tomorrow.
Check out my Abraham Lincoln video which is getting lots of great comments on Youtube!

I am having a weird time with my latest Blue Ridge painting. After several layers I am approaching it the way I used to approach an oil painting in the more tradition manner. I know from experience I can never go back, only forward so I am looking forward to the next session when the brushwork will be complex and the color vibrant and varied throughout the work. Right now it is like the lights are off as if it were a shadow of things to come.Â
This overlook has such a beautiful cloud pattern and makes for a great composition. I had overlooked this photograph that I took a while back but am now ready to enlarge on it and turn into an expressive painting with way more contrast and color than it has. As I have said many times before, I do not reproduce photographs but I oftentimes base my work on them. As always I have high hopes for a strong outcome. They are never exactly what I want, but I do get closer and closer!Â
Be sure to check out my latest youtube above. I decided to demonstrate an acrylic painting in a similar manner to my oil paintings. Lots of work off camera but due to the fast drying time I was able to get it done for Monday’s upload.
So pleased to sell another print of Morning Light to a great Minnesota patron and my most popular shore photograph to a great Illinois patron. I live to paint but I do have a small collection of popular photographs and Rosy Evening at Isle of Palms is the most popular one.
Beautiful weather here today! Got to get outside!

Having a hard time getting going today but I am looking forward to my next oil painting which will be of a specific site on the Blue Ridge.Â
These paintings are my favorites and they are hard. All that atmosphere and dissolution of form in the background is always a challenge but that is what makes it a great pursuit.
Be sure to check out my latest Youtube above. I decided to take a break from the abstracts and paint something in acrylics that is similar to my oil paintings.Â
Lots of great comments on it!

So happy with my latest painting! Now is the hard part. Do I work in a few areas that are not quite what I wanted or do I go all out with another layer for even more complexity? Always a touch decision and I need to get another idea for my Youtube series.
So busy! I may stop blogging so much as I work on other avenues of exposure. Not sure about that yet but I need to carve out more time in the day.Â
If you haven’t checked out my latest Youtube above, please do!

Yea! Clyde got his vaccine shot today! I am still waiting on an opening but I am hopeful it will be soon and I am so excited about my latest landscape.Â
The light is not right now but I will get to it tomorrow. I can’t explain why I am so happy with it. It isn’t finished so it could take another nose dive off a studio cliff but I don’t think that will happen. Love to paint! Live to paint!
Cheers on a cold Tuesday! Please check out my latest video above. This one is on watercolor technique.

We don’t eat a lot of sausage since it has so much fat in it. I couldn’t find the kind I usually get for spaghetti so I got some turkey sausage. I thought it would be nice to try it out. Well, as I was cooking it I went down the hall to give a comment on it to Clyde.
Guess what this sausage needs?Â
Sausage?
You read my mind. There are bumpy things in the sauce but I just taste sauce. Oh well, it is better for you than pork sausage.Â
So is sea weed but I don’t want that in my spaghetti.Â
Understood. No more turkey sausage.
Be sure to check out originals on Etsy! This link will take you to a popular Church painting!
Not my favorite day but they are all good in some ways. Didn’t get to paint this morning and now the light is not right and I have been having a very hard time with a huge blood blister on the under side of my tongue that started on Saturday. It popped the next day but has been so sore I have had a hard time talking and eating. I finally gave in today and took some advil.
I don’t like to take medication of any kind but if I have a hard time eating, then I am very unhappy. I eat something every few hours. I have first and second breakfast just like a hobbit so strong pain when eating had to go!
Anyway I am having a great time with another wildflower painting and looking forward to working on it tomorrow. It took a bad turn yesterday but now it is back on track. I’ll bet that makes a lot of sense. To think there are some people that don’t think artists are crazy. LOL!Â

I am really getting into wildflowers right now and looking forward to tomorrow when I can get to the second stage of my latest one! The one in the video is of wildflowers in beautiful Wildwood Park, Radford, Va.Â
My latest one is not a specific place, it is based on wildflower fields I have seen with my own improvisation. I truly understand what Edward Hopper said one time, “I am best when I improvise.” Artists build up so many images in their minds and it is great when they come out on canvas.Â
Sometimes I like to stick closely to what I see and other times I like to elaborate on what I see and sometimes there are no recognizable shapes – music without words.Â
Anyway, lots of computer work to do so I better get busy. Again, I have included a link to a painting on face masks!
Cheers and please view my video and the doctor’s video if you haven’t seen them yet.

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler
Clyde is on our church council and they are having Zoom meetings online about possibly having services again. People will be required to wear masks and maintain a safe distance.Â
It is a small congregation so that should not be a problem. Clyde told me about their thoughts on the matter after the meeting was over.
Well, I guess we can’t have coffee and snacks after the service.
Uh oh. That’s the end of the church.Â
Ha ha. I think we can manage a service without coffee afterwards.Â
You never know. LOL!
I would greatly appreciate a Google review if you like my work! Here is the link!
