Where in the world did Friday go? Way too much to do today to get to this blog but I like to put out two a week so here goes.
I am too tired to gab and I still have a lot of work to do so I am going to leave up the artwork from the last blog except for the first one which I am replacing with a print sale of Dominion to a great Pennsylvania patron!
I miss that rink very much. When my son was young I took him and his friends there once or twice a week and I love to skate. One time my son won the limbo contest!
Another rink opened years later in Christiansburg and it closed due to legal problems. I wish another one would open up. Anyway, have a great weekend!

I guess WordPress has changed their format which is probably helpful to many but it is always a problem for me. I get used to one way of doing things and then it is different. I hate to be a stick in the mud, but I wish they would not change site formats.
I am looking forward to my next painting which will be a Blue Ridge landscape which is my main work. This time it will be based on a location with some improvisations in the look of the overlook and the sky.
Hope everyone is well and staying as safe as possible.
Well I can’t figure out a thing in this new format. I thought I had pressed classic editor but I guess I didn’t. The new one kept asking me if I wanted to stay on the page when I was typing something. Arggh! Now I am back to classic so I can get things done. I thought I would never get used to the Wix format but I am getting better at it so I am sure I will get used to this.
I am using the classic editor but weird things keep happening so I may have to claim victory and retreat before I pull my hair out.
I HAVE HAD ENOUGH COMPUTER AGGRAVATION FOR ONE DAY.
Anyway, I am glad to sell a print of Wildflower Mist to a great Georgia patron! This one will be in a nursery. How great to think of a baby waking up to one of my paintings!

I don’t have a lot to say today. I couldn’t paint because it is just too dark. My Daylight Fluorescent lights aren’t good enough when it is very dark. I can’t see the warm colors well enough so they would be too strong if I worked this morning. It is still very dark. I hope I get some light tomorrow.
I want to add my latest floral to my website and include it in my newsletter. It has been quite an experience. I am very pleased with how it turned out considering I was quite discouraged in the beginning stages. I just have a little more to do.
Be sure to check out this week’s demo youtube above and Safe Grocery shopping if you haven’t seen it yet. Experts are predicting a second wave of Covid-19.

Well, the summer is shot. I hope an effective vaccine is available soon. I am going to do my research before I get harpooned. Such an awful virus. I have a friend that lost fourteen people to this virus. Fourteen!!! This is not a hoax as I am seeing some people say on social media.
Although more seniors succumb than the young, I have seen reports of children dying of Covid. Hopefully things will get better soon. On an up note I am just about done with my latest floral and will be pleased to add it to my portfolio. It truly is a color feast and I hope everyone enjoys it.
I am also pleased to sell another print of my most popular shore painting, Marsh View at Pawleys Island to a great Virginia patron! As I have said before, I mostly work on paintings of the Blue Ridge and surrounding mountains but the shore is my second favorite place. It is not my most popular painting. A Break in the Clouds is the most popular painting. I may change the heading image here to that painting, at least for a while.

I have finally got to the finesse stage of my latest floral and am so pleased to be done with most of the work. I love what I do but it does require a lot of time and discipline. I am going to work on another Blue Ridge overlook painting that I have a good idea for that resulted from the ones I recently demonstrated on Youtube. I have a lot of photographs from the Parkway to work from but I think I am going to ad lib a lot on this one. I may just base it on some ranges and then go from there.
Anyway, I am so glad we voted yesterday. I am seeing posts of lines that are a quarter of a mile long in Northern Virginia. Wow! We just went in to the registrar’s office and got it done in a few minutes. I think it is great that people are voting early and making sure their vote counts.
Also, very pleased to sell another print of one of my most popular paintings, Canoes at Mountain Lake to a great Texas patron. This is the setting for the hit movie Dirty Dancing and we have vacationed there twice! The natural lake practically emptied but it seems to be filling up again! Hope to go there soon!

Well, we went to vote at the Registrar and the parking lot was completely filled and the surrounding streets were also clogged. We will try again on Monday. We have until October 31st to vote at the Registrar and we want to vote early. Such an important election and we are worried about sending a ballot in by mail.
So pleased to sell another Skyline Beauty painting to a great California patron! I have used many different approaches to this series and some stand out more than others to me but DC Burst stands out a lot! I was very pleased with the electric look my brushwork gives this exciting city!
I will never forget seeing Godspell at Fords theater many years ago.
Be sure to check out my latest Youtube above. I forgot to put it in the last blog.

I actually got out of the house today and visited beautiful Claytor Lake with my husband! That was great. Too cold to go swimming but we walked around and it was so peaceful. Nice to get away from my work for a while.
Workaholics have to be practically dragged away but it is possible to get them out once in a while. Hope we go there again soon before the cold weather. I didn’t get to swim there once this summer due to the pandemic. Looking forward to next summer.
I am pleased to sell another print of Reaching Out to a great Texas patron! Reaching Out is my best seller and I am very proud of it.
As I said Clyde and I got out to Claytor Lake to just look around, and, of course, bird watch. Swimming is allowed at your own risk after the season closes but no one was there. Too chilly today.
One time Clyde and his naturalist friends were looking for a park and having a hard time finding it. They asked some one near the park and got directions. The guy had a strange smile on his face as he gave them directions. It turns out it was a Nudist Camp. Not the park they wanted to go to.
Clyde mentioned that today and asked an interesting question. Would they all be wearing face masks and nothing else right now? Wow, that is a picture I wouldn’t want in my living room. LOL!
Saw a lot of ducks today. They were sitting in the lifeguards chair. I’ll bet they like the vacant beach.
Please check out Clyde’s book.
The book can be purchased on Amazon! Here is the link.

Where does the time go? I was sure yesterday was Monday. How did we get from Monday to Friday? I guess Einstein was right. Everything is relative.
Whenever I hear of a family skirmish I like to change that quote to everything is relatives. I’ll bet there are a lot of people reading this that can relate.
I will never forget one of my students in a Foundations course that was one of five kids. She told me when she graduated, her brother was going to pay for a beach trip for her for a present. Wow! Talk about your nice families!
Oh well, I know my busy life makes the time go by quickly but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am pleased to sell another print of Richmond on the James to a great Texas patron! Richmond on the James is my most popular Skyline Beauty painting. I have added new ones of San Diego California, so be sure to check out that collection on my pixels website.
I am way behind in my additions to the Wix site and am having trouble with the listings that are there. There are a number of them that are still listed there that I have sold. I have deleted them many times but they keep coming back. I guess I will have to contact a Wix representative but I hate computer chats. They can take forever.
Well, back to my other work and looking forward to a break. I need to get another movie on Hoopla. Love that site! It always takes me days to watch one but I do get to the end. Cheers everybody!

I am so pleased to sell a print of A Memory to talented and beautiful actress, Morgan Fairchild! This time the print is on a t-shirt. Morgan owns three of my original oil paintings, two masks, a hand bag and two t-shirts.
This is such a special painting of a scene that reminds me of my grandmother’s beautiful grounds. She had a winding trail in her backyard with azalea bushes that I loved to walk. This painting is not that garden but it does evoke wonderful memories of that trail.
Morgan Fairchild is such a nice and interesting personality. She is really into politics and science. I highly recommend her twitter account.
Also getting a lot of attention on my latest Youtube above! The channel is growing and I love interacting with other youtubers. Some of them have great music!
Still pushing the Safe Grocery shopping video. This pandemic is far from over.

Life with the Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler
I am a big fan of Sanford and Son. I liked it when I was young and now I love it! It truly has stood the test of time in my opinion. It is on many times a day here so I usually catch one of them. I always thought it was cute the way Fred referred to his arthritis in his hand as artharitis.
I was talking about that to Clyde and mentioned a quote from the movie Hope Floats with Genna Rowlands that I liked. In this movie Genna’s character refers to her husband’s alzheimers condition as a little Old Timers. I thought that was a great way of softening the stigma of that disease.
Clyde’s response was he thinks he has a case of Stupidity and it is getting worse all the time.
I think I may have that , too. LOL! Or at least I hope this is an LOL!
Please check out Clyde’s book.

Not much to say today but plenty to do in the studio. I am immersed in my latest painting. It has such an intense atmosphere. I love to work with florals and this one is coming along very well.
I am also getting to the end of cleaning out the studio and that is a big accomplishment considering every thing else I do every day. I am looking forward to getting to the bed room next. Lots of sorting that needs to be done there.
One small thing every day and eventually the work gets done! Have a great weekend!
