Just a short blog before I head home to visit family for a funeral.  I am going to go off the grid for a few days as we mourn our wonderful mother. The patron for my latest commission came by yesterday and was very pleased with the painting and also with many of my other paintings.  He is interested in bringing his wife by and selecting others.  He also has some reverse glass paintings that he would like me to restore.  Great visit with a great patron!  He brought a friend that works with him in his business and he had many compliments on my work! I don’t have the painting on my website for prints yet but it will be there soon.  I am officially cheered up and looking forward to Line Dance class today!

The other day I had so much to do that I just didn’t want to get the evening dishes done.  I had already done dishes earlier and many other things so I just stared at them.  I told Clyde that even though it was freezing outside he would have to put up with a few minutes of cold while I heaved the dishes out the front door. 

A cat may try to lick one and get it’s tongue stuck. 

That is a chance I will have to take.  Maybe I will hit a few of those ground hogs that converge on our property. 

Not a chance. They are hibernating under the shed next door and laughing about the times they have eaten all our apples. 

Well, put on your sweater because here I go!  The dishes will fly!

I am in a very bad mood today.  Most of the time I am an up person which is contrary to what many people think about artists, but today I am, as Clyde would say, lower than a snake’s belly.  We have to deal with a decades old problem that can be awful at times and today is one of those days.  I am trying to cheer up but it is difficult. 

We have been working for months on a new strategy to see if there is help for this problem but the latest effort did not work out.  Oh well.  We are well.  We have a roof over our heads and do not want for food or material things so I will cheer up.  We all get down at times.  I am glad that I don’t get down that much.

I have always been fascinated by marine life, especially sharks, so I was pleased to see footage of the recently discovered huge twenty foot white shark.  Many people don’t know that most species of sharks are not interested in eating people but they sometimes take exploratory bites and then spit the person out.  Clyde was amazed that in the footage people were swimming rather near the shark. 

That shark certainly isn’t Jaws. 

Why are they swimming that near the shark? 

I don’t know but the shark doesn’t seem to be interested in them. 

They just fed it an elephant.  That’s why. 

Ha ha.  I doubt that very much.

Well, I have learned to be more careful with commissions with letters.  I thought the garage that was also owned by the Roanoke family that owned the store I made a painting of was  named after them.  In the photograph I could just make out 9th Street Garage but I thought that was the name it is today. 

Whoops!  Oh well, I covered over their name and corrected the sign.  The painting would be gone if it were not for that error.  Live and learn!  Next time I will make sure I have it right before I do brush lettering which is very hard especially on such a small scale.  Anyway, I am looking forward to starting some new paintings!

Not in the best mood today.  Usually Mondays are like any other day to me since I haven’t figured out how to stop working all the time.  I can’t even watch TV without doing something with my hands.  I don’t really care much about my nails but the cuticles sure do want to cover them so I usually try pushing them back and I always do my home yoga to TV. 

Anyway, it sure is bleak and cold out there and I have too much to do.  I finished my current commission and will put it in the frame when it is completely dry so that is something to cheer about but I can’t seem to get a cheer going to day.  Oh well, complaining never gets any one any where.  Someone will always complain louder so I need to cheer up and get back to work.

We are waiting for the snow to fall and I am trying to get a lot of work done.  I keep saying I will put on my boots and walk in it like I did when I was young.  In so many ways I never grew up and I like it that way.  I have been a responsible adult but I still love all the things I loved when I was a kid.  I keep getting under the pile so I don’t do all those things but I will get out there this time!  I have always said if we have to have winter then we need some snow. It is beautiful!

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Well, we finally got Clyde’s phone set up.  We waited so long tracfone sent us a message asking us to reconnect and get bonus minutes.  His phone is just like mine but because of the identification system on his email we had problems getting through the instructions. Anyway, Clyde has some choice comments to make about it. 

I left the room and heard a very loud yell.  It had slipped out of his pocket and took a nasty fall.  Fortunately, it was not damaged.  Yesterday we were watching a movie that had a cell phone noise go off during a scene. 

Clyde said the sound of a cell phone makes him want to put up his dukes and fight.  He really hates cell phones but like I said in another blog, those birds on Rocky Knob are not going to call me.  He must have a phone, like it or not.

Well, I made it to Yoga and Line Dance and now I am back in the new “Smoking” position in front of the computer.  I don’t smoke but I have heard that sitting is the new smoking.  That is kind of a weird phrase.  I don’t think sitting here will give me cancer but it sure isn’t good for my muscles.  I do think the radiation is a problem if people are right up against the screen. 

I have read that everyone should be 19″ away from the screen and I am about two feet.  I am definitely a low risk person. The only way I would jump out of a plane is if someone pushed me to save my life.  I stay away from planes as much as possible. 

Tomorrow I will put the finishing touches on my current commission.  I think it turned out well and the patron is very happy!

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Clyde and I are still catching up on the great show Married with Children and I am still accusing him of writing it and putting the money in a Swiss bank account. 

Now he says it was lost in the ship wreck.

Ship wreck?  Why aren’t you just using the internet. 

You know how I hate the internet.  I put it in big bags and the fish got it in the wreck. 

Fish don’t eat money. 

Yeah?  Then why did that sharp bite my butt while the others swam through the money.  You should have seen that octopus play with the coins.  You would have thought you were in Las Vegas. 

Wow.  What a fish story. 

Oh well.  All I know is that show at times practically asphyxiates me just like Clyde does.  He may not have written it but he certainly has the same sense of humor.

I don’t usually write a to do list.  I try to keep it all in my head but yesterday I did write one.  If I have an appointment I have to hang a note from the entrance to the kitchen so I see if every time I go in there which is quite often.  If I don’t do that I will miss appointments. 

I sent a file of my latest commission to the patron and he said he loved it!  Commissions are tricky but I have had great success with them.  I still have to work on the lettering and some fine tuning.  Check it out below!

I stay out of conversations on politics, especially these days.  The country is so divided on how well the present administration is handling things that I would rather not get into an argument.  I am not giving my opinion on Trump here but I did see a very funny comment on Facebook about the wall.  I don’t mean to offend anyone. 

The comment was that most immigrants enter the country on airplanes.  Don’t tell Trump.  He will want to build a roof. 

I mentioned that to Clyde and he said he didn’t believe the immigrants were hitching rides on airplanes.  They would have to have the money for it.  Anyway, I thought it was a fun joke!
