Wow, I am sitting on my hands when I come across certain posts on Facebook. As I said I am no longer posting rebuttal comments because I don’t think they help and I just get called offensive names by people that disagree.

Still, I would like to say here where I think most, if not all of my followers are like-minded people, that we need to fact check some of the outrageous claims by some people on Facebook.  If you think that the Swine Flu was worse than Covid-19 so we shouldn’t have to wear masks or close schools since that didn’t happen with the Swine Flu, please look up the rebuttal articles. 

Covid-19 is much worse and it is not on the way out any time soon.  On a good note, I am having a great time going back to older work that I wanted to change in some ways.  Still getting some clean up work done and hiding out with my family. 

I feel like we are in a prison but it really is a nice prison!  Hope we will be sprung in 2021. Cheers and stay safe!

Lot of interesting posts on Facebook that I am not going to comment on.  I don’t want to be called names by people that disagree with my opinions so I will just voice my opinions in like minded groups where I won’t be verbally attacked. 

A friend suggested I do that and I am going to consider his advice to be a “boat” I should take.  I love that joke about someone in imminent danger that wouldn’t take help because he knew God would get him out of the mess. The situation involved possible drowning and one friend came with a boat for him.  When he didn’t survive, he asks God why he didn’t help him. God answers that he sent him all those people  but he wouldn’t take any help. 

So, I am taking this boat and I think it is sad that many of us are verbally attacked on Facebook by people that insist their opinion is the correct one. 

Back to what I love, my artwork.  I am still working on some unfinished pieces from years ago and it is a great experience.  Lots of memories, some good and some bad.

Still taking flack off of Facebook people but I will not stay out of the problems the US is in right now.  I do not think the reports of death from Covid-19 are falsified and they can in no way compare to our annual influenza deaths. 

I think all these posts that masks don’t work are wrong and I will continue to say that.  I will continue to share posts about how we need to take this virus seriously rather than think it is a hoax designed to harm Trump’s chances of winning a second term.  This is still America and I have just as much right to my opinion as the people that think I am wrong. 

Two people said God help us if I ever get elected president.  What a ridiculous thing to say.  I never said I was considering running for a political office. 

Anyway, I am having a great time going back to some drawings from many years ago that were never finished.  I decided it was time to take a break from mineral spirit fumes and get into some other mediums.  As I have said before, I have never met an artistic medium that I did not like.  Right now I am finishing a graphite drawing from my school days. Glad I still have it!

Some of the funny things Clyde says are especially funny to me because his humor is unlike any humor I have ever known. 

Both of us are getting so tired of hair loss commercials.  There are a lot of guys that shave their head on purpose these days so what’s wrong with being bald?

Anyway, Clyde said they should look in the mirror and hold up a watermelon next to their head.  They might think they really have hair after that.

So pleased to find a great home for one of my personal favorites, Tulip Burst.  I mailed it yesterday after taking a few more files of it.  Really sorry to see that one go, but, as I say all the time, I can’t take them with me. I decided to leave a file of it here again with the link for prints.  I can’t explain why I think this is such a strong painting but it has to do with a quality that I strive to achieve in all my work. 

When I was working for my MFA a professor said to me that a critic once said great artwork has a sensuous surface.  Pretty sure I  mentioned this before but it bears repeating.  I always think of this when I paint and I think this surface is especially sensuous.  

As I was going over my mailing list I thought I had better check out a great Virginia patron that bought three of my large paintings and hired me for a commission. I didn’t know her age but she was certainly over forty.  Her husband was a Forestry professor and they both were great people. 

I checked the obituaries and saw that she and her husband had passed away.  I know she had children and I hope my paintings will go to them.  Artwork gets passed around but as long as it is some where it can be seen that is enough for me.

I don’t think political figures should be hosting large crowds of any kind right now and it is my right in a free country to say that.  Covid-19 is not a hoax and those of us that know it should proclaim that fact loudly.

Wow! Facebook sure is a hornets nest if people don’t agree with you.  During this difficult time I share posts that I think are important.  There are famous professionals that I think should be getting respect and support but many people are determined to call them liars and misinformed.  Some of the comments are rude.  It has been my experience that most people do not really want to debate an issue. They just want to insist they are right and you are wrong. 

I refuse to get into a debate on Facebook, especially with people that insult people.  So I just ignore the comments but I will keep on sharing important information during this awful pandemic.

Well, we are back to fighting with mice.  We used a Have a Heart trap and caught several but then one of them figured how to get out of the trap so we went back to the old kind. 

Either they are not working right or we have one smart mouse right now.  Lots of evidence of a mouse, the bait is gone, and no capture.   We are going back to a Have a Heart trap but this time we are getting the expensive kind. 

I told Clyde if this doesn’t work he will have to stay up all night with a rifle and get that varmint! LOL!

Not a lot to say today.  Still working away and trying to stay upbeat which is hard considering the spike in the number of viruses and deaths.  The numbers in Southwest Virginia have gone up quite a bit since restrictions were eased and I am concerned about kids going back to school. 

There are news items that claim they don’t spread it and are completely safe to attend school again.  I think that is probably fake news. 

Anyway, we are staying in quarantine until there is an effective vaccine. 

The actress Morgan Fairchild that bought three of my paintings said she was sure this spike would happen and she was certainly right.  Please wear a mask and stay away from people as much as possible.

Now that Clyde does not have to get up for work he is still getting up very early to check on wildlife around the area.  He sees a lot of amazing things and has learned not to talk to otters any more since they started to come after him that time he did call out to them. 

Since he does get up around 5:00 he usually takes a short nap after lunch.  Today he asked me if I needed to get into the bedroom before he closed the door. 

I can’t think of anything I need to get in there for.

Well, as usual my crate took longer to make then expected so I couldn’t paint today.  I will be taking Morning Color Dance to UPS this afternoon. I don’t know if it is me or what but I tend to have problems when I schedule a pick up- many, many problems, so I take it on over myself. Unfortunately the closest UPS is in Dublin so I have a twenty minute drive but it is worth it not to have to straighten out the miscommunication. 

Don’t misunderstand. UPS is great and I rely on them to mail my work. The oil pastel painting I recently sold to a Washington patron is a special one to me so I am leaving it up in this post too.  I am so glad it will have a great home! 

I am still very scared of this awful virus and I am amazed that some people keep claiming the case spikes in many states are some sort of fake news.  Dr. Fauci did not have any problems with former administrations so I think he should still be listened to.  He is the expert, not the politicians.

Well, things certainly are looking up as another one of my medium sized Blue Ridge Parkway paintings was purchased by a great Washington patron!  It is so important to me to place my work where it will be appreciated. Morning Color Dance is my favorite Oil Pastel painting.

I used to argue with people that say artists are crazy.  Well, in my case I work like a maniac so if that is why people think I am crazy, then yes, I am nuts.  My latest one is taking quite a lot of time but I still have not gotten to the point where I just wish it were done.  I still want to work on it and it is coming along and the balancing act between the effect I am after and the effects that show up as I paint is working out well. 

I don’t think I will be arm wrestling on this one, just a lot of work.  Looking forward to the next session.  I have too much to do tomorrow and Sunday so I will have to wait until Monday.
