Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

I like to tease Clyde about the food he won’t eat.  He claims that he is not that picky but he is the only person I have ever met that does not like barbecue sauce.  Yesterday I told him I was going to get groceries so he could have his favorite meal.  His reply was,

Orangutan pie? 

Now you know that is your second favorite meal. 

Monkey Ghost Souffle? 

That’s the one. 

Actually it was fish.  As I have said before, Clyde hates fish.  He forces himself to eat it once a week but he thinks we should all just let them keep   on    swimming. 

Cute joke on the internet.  What do fish do at a Foot ball game?  They wave.

Well, my painting is behaving itself again.  I figured out how to solve the composition problem and am now having a great time on the last layer.  Now, how long will the great time last.  Who knows?  I really think this one is going to be highly successful but it might fight back and then I will move on while it sulks.  I have learned over the years how to keep my sanity and still paint.  For the millionth time, I really do love to paint!

Well, the painting I am working on is sneaky.  It was working just fine for a while and then it decided it was arm wrestling time.  Argh!  I have a composition problem that I just can’t ignore so it is back to the easel with a frown on my face.  When will these paintings ever learn to let me win once in a while?  Oh well, I never get exactly what I want, but I do come close and almost all of them look better after some time has passed.  I really do love to paint in spite of all the evidence to the contrary.

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Ravens are so smart.  I was listening to a short program on them yesterday and the speaker said they are as smart as a three year old child!  Clyde says he talks to Ravens all the time.  He doesn’t know what they are saying but he has fun talking to them and listening to their answers.  I saw a cute raven joke.  Edgar Allan Poe is writing next to what appears to be a passive aggressive raven. It keeps saying Never Mind! 

I wonder if that is what a raven says to Clyde and he just doesn’t get it?

Clyde disagrees. He thinks the raven is telling him to look for a cliff and see if he can fly off of it.

Once in a while a painting doesn’t make you want to throw your brushes out the window.  The one I am working on right now is one of those paintings!  I love to do wildflowers and this one is coming along nicely.  We artists need that kind of experience once in a while.  None of us took up painting to art wrestle our way through it.  We find out  that is the way it is done after we have been painting for a while – right after we get hooked!

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Clyde has lost about twenty pounds and has probably five or ten to go. He still has a little extra around the middle.  He has been losing about a pound a week which is all anyone should lose a week in my opinion.   Anyway, I was looking around for something funny regarding weight loss and saw one with a sign outside a barber shop.  Gluten free haircuts.  

Now I know everyone is concerned about what they eat these days, but what the heck is a gluten free hair cut?  Clyde said it must be like a gluten free computer.  Now I am worried.  I don’t know if my computer is gluten free.  I better check.  LOL!

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

I am still trying to find time to do too many things in a day.  Of course, exercise is an important part of anyone’s day and that certainly takes up time.  I exercise for thirty minutes and yoga for 15 every day.  Sometimes the exercise is a walk. 

On our last walk I was complaining to Clyde about how I needed more hours in the day.  I asked him where is that Time Fairy?  He said she is looking for her watch.  Well, I wish she would find it and start waving a magic wand for the rest of us!

Okay, where did Sunday go?  I guess it hitched a ride to Saturday and they catapulted right on out of here.  Oh well, Clyde and I got to finish a great movie about a poet.  We both thought it was an excellent film.  Anyway, here I am back at the computer.  Let’s see how fast I can get things done so I can see what the other rooms in the house look like.

Friday and Saturday were shot out of a rocket.  I can’t believe how fast some days go by.  Too much to do all the time which is, of course, better than not enough but days shot out of a rocket are a bit much. Friday I called Clyde to complain about how much I had to do and how far behind the eight ball I was.  Then I told him I had made an executive decision. 

 

 

Throw me out?

Not yet. 

We are eating out tonight.

Wow!  I can’t believe I did that.  I have all of my keys on one chain.  It I didn’t I would never be able to find my keys.  Yesterday my car keys magically separated themselves from the others.  Of course, I didn’t reattach them and paid for that this morning.  I picked up the car keys and left the other keys.  I am lock happy so I was locked out of my house. 

I tried to call Clyde and got the answering machine over and over again.  As I sat in my car feeling like an idiot I decided I could use the time to clean off the car port so I at least would not look like an idiot sitting in her car.  Finally, after 30 minutes had gone by, Clyde called me and reminded me that we left a key with our neighbor when we went on vacation. 

Argh!!!!  I could have gotten right in.  I got the key from the neighbor and finished cleaning off the car port.   Lots of other aggravations after that.  One of those days!

One great thing.  The patron that licensed one of my Skyline Beauty paintings of Roanoke sent me the invitation it is being used for!  It looks great!  Hope I can go!

I am getting a lot done today. I hate to waste time but sometimes I get a little down and it is hard to get to everything.  I am smiling today and I intend to keep on smiling!  My new wildflower painting is coming along.  I think the texture on this one will be exceptionally intricate. 

One sculptor told me the reason I like elevated texture is because I really want to turn it into 3-d art.  I have run into a number of sculptors that think 3-d is the only art there is.  Well, I do love sculpture but 2-d will always be my favorite.  Love that paint!

Today I received a pornographic picture message from a so-called Facebook friend.  He is no longer a Facebook friend.  I am liking Facebook less and less.  I need it for social media marketing but sometimes it is like being in a wild bar.  I don’t go to bars.  I am pretty much a hobbit painter and perfectly happy that way. 

There is a great Facebook joke on the internet that is advice from Garfield.  Facebook needs three more buttons.  1. Dislike  2. Who cares?  3. You’re an idiot  Clyde does not like Facebook at all and does not have a personal page, only a business page.  He says Facebook is like a never-ending breakfast of styrofoam. 

Weird comment, but I like it.

It’s Hawk Migration time and Clyde is trying to get up to Rocky Knob and check it out. What he doesn’t like to do this time of the year is lead hawk migration programs. 

Birding is like fishing. Sometimes they just aren’t up there and then the group is so disappointed but since he is the Bird Man he has been asked to lead one and he will. 

Saw a cute bird joke on the internet. A bird is sitting on a wire and asks, “So what’s so great about being online?”

Clyde added “I am going to fly south and laugh at all of you!”  Happy Fall tweeting!
