I am fighting the Monday blahs and trying to get a lot of things done.  I just found out that I don’t have any bubble wrap and I need to mail a painting out soon so time to get to the store.

I am getting some very irritating messages on Facebook that are probably from scammers.  Wouldn’t it be great if there was some kind of automatic scammer alarm system?  I realize that is a ridiculous idea but I am trying to think of something funny to cheer me up.

Oh well.  Yoga tonight and Line Dance tomorrow!  Yes!

Usually, on Saturday or Sunday we go out to a fast food place and I always get a chicken sandwich but I never get the fries.  For a number of reasons I don’t eat fried food and if you ever try one of those fries cold you know how bad they taste.  I’ll bet there are other things in them besides potato.

Sometimes I get the baked potato at Wendys.  Saturday, we went to Wendys and I just got the sandwich and when we got home I wished I had gotten the potato.  I was still hungry so I decided to boil a potato.

The potato was a little bigger than I wanted so I asked Clyde if he could eat the rest.  His answer was, do pigs oink?  Okay, stupid question. Let’ move on.

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Clyde has been trying a number of natural remedies for his sore hip and knee with no improvement.  The other day I suggested acupuncture.  He said that was a great idea.  Maybe it will hurt so much he will jump up and run after the person that put the pins in and the pain in his body would disappear!  Okay, no acupuncture.

 

None of the remedies have worked because the doctor visit revealed torn cartilage in his knee which is causing the pain there and radiating out to his hip.  The hip is fine.  Just pain by association with an injured knee.  He will have to have an operation.

Yikes!  I wonder how much will be covered by insurance.  A couple of dollars?  We can only hope!

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Everyone is on their phone.  The other day Clyde and I were behind a car that was slowly veering off to the left  on a neighborhood rode.  I slowed way down so I wasn’t near the wayward person in case they crashed into a car that was supposed to be in that lane.

A while back I was walking on the Radford Rec track and two girls were walking side by side while staring at their phone.  Not a word between them.

I was told last week that teachers have given up on getting kids to put their phone away.  Now they have some sort of interactive screen that they use with their phones.  Wow!  Glad I retired from teaching.

Anyway, Clyde’s comment was an army from another country could invade ours and no one would notice.  Everyone is on their phone.

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Clyde is still having a lot of trouble with his hip so it is off to the doctor next week.  I hope he can get some help.  I am so glad he is cutting back on sugar since he could stand to lose a few pounds.  There are a lot of fattening things I avoid because I know I could easily put on twenty or thirty pounds if I ate them.

Clyde laughs at the thought that I could get fat.  He says if a calorie shows up I beat it over the head with a brick.  Ha ha. Calorie counting has kept the weight off me my entire adult life.

If every one ate a balanced diet, exercised and counted calories we would not have an obesity problem in this country.  My sermon for the day.  No one listens to me, but it is true.

I am still looking for my glasses.  I bought a chain and attached it to the pair I keep in the kitchen.  I keep those on top of the fridge.  It is against the law for them to be put anywhere else.  Well, I broke the law and was just about ready to give up when they showed up on my dresser.

I told Clyde. you know you are hopeless with glasses when you lose the one with the chain attached.  Maybe I should put them on in the morning and not take them off until bed time.  Yikes!  I hate reading glasses but I can’t do without them.

Just saw a cute joke about eye exams.  Santa Claus is in the chair.  The opthmalogist tells Santa he doesn’t care if he puts him on his naughty list, he is still going to dilate his eyes.

Clyde is doing a little better with his hip problem and the funnies are starting to fly again.  I read about a joint remedy that involves drinking plain gelatin the first thing in the morning.  It is prepared the night before and left out to swell. I’m sure plain gelatin tastes awful.

I told him I would put a cover over it so the rats don’t get in.  He said I just wanted to make sure there wasn’t any taste to it.  Ha ha. We don’t really have rats.  This morning I asked him how it tasted.

He said it was a party. He almost lit candles.

Nothing funny today.  Clyde is still having a lot of hip pain and I am discouraged about a number of things right now.  Maybe I can find something funny elsewhere before I get to a lot of work.

Found something funny regarding the medical profession which is appropriate since we are both trying to figure out what is the best approach for a hip remedy.  Doctor, physical therapy, massage therapy, yoga in a chair, etc.

Picture a guy in a dentist chair about to be worked on.  He asks the dentist if that is a Dentistry for Dummies on his shelf.

We are still down a car.  I hope it won’t cost too much to fix it.  I just got back from driving Clyde to work. The Prius has been a great car but it is getting to the do we fix it or buy a new one stage.   I think it is time to start looking for a new one.  Yuck!  Hate shopping.

Poor Clyde is still having  a lot of hip pain.  He is considering a trip to the doctor to make sure he didn’t injure himself in some way.  My muscle spasm is completely gone today.  Yesterday Clyde wanted to get out and walk since it was somewhat better.  I was still a little sore.

My grandfather’s saying about small towns came to mind as we started walking the trail.  Go slow, see the town.  Go fast, see the judge.  Well, yesterday the saying was walk slow, see the park, walk fast, hurt the butt.  We were not moving very fast.

One car down.  Our Prius gave Clyde a nasty note about break fluid.  Needless to say, the repair people towed it.  Can’t take a chance on the breaks going out.  Hopefully the other car will keep going.  They are both very old.  We are waiting for one to croak and then get a new one.  Oh well.  As my grandmother would say, “Such is life”.

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

I mentioned  to Clyde that he knows about Murphy’s Law.

He said he wasn’t even sure if he knew Murphy.

Ha ha.

Anyway, of course he knows about Murphy’s Law.  I’ll bet just about everyone has heard one of his  laws that states, “A good deed never goes unpunished.”

 

Well, today I added another one.  I have been working hard to correct my bad habit of dropping things.  Last week I pulled a muscle in my back and it is still sore.  Since that happened I can’t believe how many things I have dropped.

So, new law.  The probability of dropping something sky rockets when your back hurts.
