I am looking forward to painting today!  I prepared the hardboard yesterday and now I can get started on another wildflower painting.  I love to work with zillions of colors and nuances of colors and wildflower paintings are great for that.  Constant change of color and texture as I load up the board.  Today will just be the first layer and a lot of composition decisions and then things will really get going in a few days.  Love oil paint!

I don’t know of a lot to do on WordPress today. I know what I don’t want to do which is what I just did.  I completely modified my last post like I always do and then realized I was working on the last one and not the new one.  I foolishly left that one so it would not change but forgot to copy my changes so I have to start all over again.  Arghhhh!  Since I am a workaholic I don’t usually have the Monday blahs but I am  this time.  Hope the rest of the day is better. 

Need to get into the studio.  There is no computer there.

I actually got out and danced last night!  That was great!  I really do spend so much time at home these days that getting away is such a nice experience.  Been too busy with restoring a frame and postal stuff to paint so I want to get right to that. 

I started another Skyline Beauty painting of Memphis TN with a limited palette for a change of pace. The first stage is getting a lot of hits!  I am pleased that my abstract works are appreciated.  I prefer working from images of this beautiful region but I also like to paint different things in a more expressive style. It is all good to me!

I am have thinking about how tricky and dangerous the internet is and then I saw this cute illustration that makes me think of it.  In some ways the internet is like  a many eyed monster.

Fish? 

Suckers.  There are all kinds of fish with suckers. 

I guess we all have to try not to be a sucker fish.

I still have not ordered Clyde’s Smart Phone.  I told him I wanted him to find some plain pans that won’t poison us and he hasn’t done that yet so we are even. 

I was thinking about what he said last time about how hard it will be for us to get a new phone going.  He said it would be like two monkeys in a tree trying to open a banana with a coconut.  Well, I think two monkeys in a tree would be smarter than that. 

He said I was right.  One of them would eat the banana and clunk the other one over the head with the coconut to open it.  That sounds more like it!  LOL!

Oh no!  Clyde wants to get a new phone. Panic in the streets or at least in our house!  When I bought my smart phone that is way smarter than me neither one of us could get it going so we had to talk to someone with a thick accent only to find out it was defective.  We sent it back and got one we finally managed to get going.  So far so good.  I have not heaved it out the window. 

Clyde is thinking of getting one like mine so the nightmare will begin again.  He says it will be like two monkeys in a tree trying to open a coconut with a banana!

  I am pleased to present another Skyline Beauty painting of Memphis TN!  For the last two Skyline Beauty paintings I have used a limited palette for a change of pace. I prefer to use all the colors of the spectrum of light and modulation  in between those colors but it has been interesting using a mostly analogous system.  Check them all out in my Skyline Beauty gallery on my website!  My completely independent site is coming along.  I hope to have it done soon!

As I have said before Clyde calls me to make sure I get up.  I like to come up with funny answers.  My favorite has been, “Who dat?”  The other day I used that one and he said Crazy.

Crazy?  Why are you calling me?

I thought this was Dial a Nut.

Right people but wrong place.

I like that one.  I think I will answer, Dial a Nut for a while.

I think we both might be a few chips short of a whole cookie.

I have been doing what could be passed for fast yoga today.  So much of the poses we take when we do housework are the same as yoga poses.  The difference is I am not breathing slowly when I do table top to clean the bathroom floor and my downward dogs to pick up stuff on the kitchen floor are pretty quick.  I am so pleased that my arms have gotten a lot stronger and I can hold the downward dog pose for a very long time which is what the teacher requires us to do. 

I use to want to let out a dog yelp and get back to table top before my arms bent.  Anyway, now it is time to sit in front of the computer and get to all the sit down work I need to do.  I really am a workaholic and sometimes I think I am on skid row, clicking and typing my fingers off.

Saturday night there is a old horror movie channel show on with a host that likes to make a lot of jokes about the movies.  Last time he had a crazy advertisement for glow in the dark clothes.  I asked Clyde if he would like a glow in the dark outfit. 

No, then people that want to do me in could see me better. 

Who would want to do that? 

Don’t you know why hunters are required to wear blaze orange? 

So they don’t get hit by a deer hunter. 

No.  It is blaze orange so a hunter that sees you can blaze away. 

Ha ha. So no glow in the dark clothing for you. 

Right.

Clyde doesn’t like to hunt but his Dad lived to hunt so I thought this cartoon would be fun!

Come on down to Glencoe Museum in Radford Va for the 20th Anniversary celebration!  Here is a list of what is going on and one of my paintings will be in an exhibit of local scenes!

The celebration will include the opening of a new gallery and history exhibits that delve into Radford’s story. There will be refreshments and activities for all ages including living history interpreters, children’s activities and historical presentations.

Among the presenters will be Robert C. Whisonant; Paul Quigley, Director of Virginia Tech’s Center for Civil War Studies; and history professors Dan Thorp and Mary Ferrari.

The culmination of the event will be a special presentation by acclaimed Civil War Historian William C. Davis who will present, “Love Among the Ruins,” a talk based on his upcoming publication of the over 500 Wharton Civil War letters.

I am so pleased to sell two prints from my Suggestions series to a great Va patron!  This patron contacted me about looking at some originals, too.  He recently  bought a condominium on beautiful Smith Mountain Lake.  I will be pleased to have some of my work at that great location! 

If you haven’t checked out my Suggestions gallery on my website, please do!  These are paintings that are only available in print form.  Sometimes I like to just put paint on paper and look for images to show up and then I bring them out for a strong expressionistic effect.  I use inexpensive acrylic paint and inexpensive paper for these paintings which is why I don’t have them for sale but they are great in print form! 

Most patrons buy them for wall art but they are available on clothes, computer items, beach items, and kitchen items.  The two that were bought for wall art are Sunflower Burst and Wading.  Wading is one of my favorites from this series.  Click on the link below each one of them to see all the print possibilities to the right!

I have always had problems with popular phrases.  I guess I am the stick in the mud that would have had no problem letting Latin die.  We all know that if language does not change, it dies.  Well, I always thought the use of the word “cool”  was weird and didn’t use it for most of my life. 

Since it just won’t go away I finally started to use it a few years ago.  Like I said.  I am a real stick in the mud.  Do people use stick in the mud these days?  Anyway, I am getting irritated with the phrase, it is what is it.   I asked Clyde if it is what it is, what is it?

His response. If it is what it is it might be what it ain’t.  You have to think about that one but I like it!
