Not my favorite day.  We all have them and this is a very bad one for me for personal reasons.  I didn’t have time to paint when the light was good but that is not the reason I am so out of sorts.  I have to endure something that I don’t really have to endure but the alternative is not something I want to do, so some days are very difficult.  Oh well. We are all having a bad time with this virus so I think I will just get to work and quit griping. 

I am pleased to sell another print of Rosy Evening at Isle of Palms, my most popular photograph to a great Oregon patron and the first sale of Black Swallowtail to a great India patron!   Time to count my blessings and be happy.

I keep plugging along and try to keep from getting this virus.  I wish people would forego the beach this summer.  A huge spike in covid-19 in Florida says it all. Anyway, I am pleased to be selling prints of popular works! Another print of A Break in the Clouds and Richmond on the James, and Smith Mountain Lake were sold this week. 

All three of these paintings have been sold in print form many times.  The original paintings, A Break in the Clouds and Richmond on the James have been sold.   Always great to get my work out there while I am working away on more.  My latest painting is taking a very long time but it is coming along nicely.  Hope to finish it soon.

Well, I knew I would not get through with my latest painting without some art or arm wrestling but it wasn’t a hair pulling time, just a few set backs and I am looking forward to tomorrow rather than wishing I just played the piano and never picked up a brush.  I love to paint but it can be difficult at times.  My husband gave me a great compliment on the progress so far and that helped a lot. 

Anyway, I am still so worried over this virus and hope and pray I don’t get it from someone at the grocery store that refuses to wear a mask and doesn’t know they are carrying it.  I am practically pole vaulting away from people.  I am amazed at  how some people think it is over when many states are reporting a great increase in cases.

I usually stay out of politics because it has been my experience that people do not want to calmly debate issues. They insist they are right and people they talk to should just agree with them.  Well, I am going to make an exception and  comment on the current administration.  Our president should not be having mass rallies during a pandemic.  He can have virtual ones.  I think he should take this pandemic more seriously and listen to medical experts regarding the duration of this catastrophe. 

There. I said it and I am entitled to my opinion.  No one has to agree with me and I will not get into an argument over this.  Please wear a mask and practice social distancing. 

As you can see I am getting into fall scenes right now.  My current painting is a fall painting of The Peaks of Otter lodge.

Still no art wrestling regarding the progress of my latest painting. I meant to say arm wrestling but art wrestling works good, too.  I have completed three major layers and will hopefully finish the final one next week.  Hope things keep on going smoothly. 

I think after I complete this large oil painting I will take care of some problem works that I have been meaning to get to and add them to my portfolio.  I am still slowly getting the studio better organized then it has ever been!  I have notes all over the place so I won’t have to hunt things down.  Maybe I can even figure out how to get Aperture to correctly export the file size of some slides I still have not scanned. 

Anyway, I am very discouraged over a lot of people’s response to the Pandemic. It is not over. We can’t just get tired of it and act like there isn’t a problem.  I see people without face masks.  If they think this is a hoax, why can’t they wear one to put the rest of us that do not think it is a hoax at ease?  I think that would be common courtesy. 

I don’t get into these arguments on Facebook but when I see a post that I think is important to share, I share it and ignore the negative comments.  I shared one with the recommendations of Dr. Fauci and one person said he was the virus.  Others said he doesn’t know what he is talking about.  We need to respect those that have extensively studied disease. 

As a fourth grade teacher told me years ago.  Are we going to get any stupider?  I am beginning to wonder.  Check out my latest Youtube above!

Well, I am pleased that I am having no problem finding a very important staple in the grocery store – Russell Stover Pecan Delights.  LOL!  We both really do have a thing about good chocolate. 

Clyde likes dark chocolate more than milk chocolate. I can’t stand dark chocolate.  I would rather shove a mint in my mouth. 

Anyway, I saw something real cute on Facebook about chocolate.  If you can’t remember my name, say chocolate and I will turn around.  Oh yes!!!

I was so surprised to see that I hadn’t shown my latest wildflower painting on WordPress.  I was very pleased with the resulting work and am incorporating the somewhat different technique in my large Peaks of Otter Lodge painting.  It is coming along and I keep waiting for the arm wrestling session but I think that will happen in the next layer.

Hope it just goes along smoothly.  I know if we don’t struggle we don’t really progress but sometimes I still learn when there isn’t a big struggle and I hope this painting is one of those.  

My Youtube demos are getting stronger but I am doing more of the work off camera than I was on many of the others.  I am sure to include a link to the final painting in the description. I hope people read those. 

I have been told that I practically include a book about myself with my descriptions but I want people to know that I am in no way a Sunday painter and hold an advanced  degree and have many credits to my name.

Clyde and I don’t watch a lot of TV but our gripes are getting louder and louder.  We constantly flick the channels to avoid commercials that seem to be getting longer and longer. I never thought I would do that but I just can’t take it anymore. The other day the commercial came on and Clyde didn’t change the channel.  It was over so quick we couldn’t believe it.

Did we fall asleep? 

I don’t think so.

Did we enter another dimension where TV shows have more time than the commercials?

Don’t think so. Just keep your trigger finger on the channel button.  That is probably the last time that will happen.

So pleased to sell another print of my most popular photograph Rosy Evening at Isle of Palms to a great Iowa patron!  I live to paint but I do have some photographs that I am proud of so I have included them in collections on my website.  I have included a link to a face mask of this photograph which I think would look great!

I am very pleased to be working on a large painting that incorporates architecture!  I have always been fascinated by architecture and took many courses while obtaining my MFA degree.  One of my most popular architecture paintings is Rehoboth Beach Houses which is also one of my favorite paintings. 

Now I am working on a painting with the Peaks of Otter Lodge that includes the lake and surrounding trees in the Fall.   I am trying something a little different in my technical approach and keeping the second layer almost as thin as the first.

I think I can achieve more expression and color nuance with the large areas more modeled out in the beginning of the work. Anyway, it is always an exciting, sometimes exasperating experience and I am looking forward to the third layer where the arm wrestling will probably begin.

Pleased to sell more prints! This time the prints are on face masks.  I mostly sell originals and wall art prints but my work is available on just about anything!  The two that were selected are below.  One was sold to a great Louisville, KY patron and the other to a great Columbia, SC patron!

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

I am still practicing Yoga every day and still complaining about it.  Don’t misunderstand.  It does great things for the body and I will practice until I am no longer around but my mantra is still I hate Yoga, I hate Yoga, I hate Yoga. 

I wish I hadn’t told Clyde that. I think he would benefit from practicing it, too.  I have an online zoom class with friends Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The other days I select 30 minute practices from Youtube. Just can’t make myself practice an hour every day. 

The other day when Clyde walked by and heard the Youtube teacher say, “Lift your fingers high into the sky!”. Clyde added but don’t hit the light bulb on the way up.  He said something a week ago that I thought was funnier but I am always mindful to keep my blog PG. 

Anyway, you can imagine what he said when he referred to several fingers being lifted high in the sky. LOL!
