Well, my latest commission is coming along but it has been a little challenging. I sent a first layer file that the patron was very happy with but then I veered off into a slightly different direction. He made it clear that he wanted me to paint a seascape that I would like to have on my wall. He didn’t want me to change the way I paint. That is always great to hear but kind of difficult to follow when painting for someone else. I can’t help but consider the one he purchased and sort of following that one. I am back on path now and pleased with the progress. Check out the first layer below and my latest Youtube.
I thought the old dog was learning new tricks on WordPress today when I lost the whole post. I decided to use the copy feature so I would already have the blocks up and not have to add each one. Well, when I tried to delete the painting so I could put up a different one, the whole post vanished.
Anyway I am pleased to sell another print of Huckleberry Line Trail Pond to a great Virginia patron! This is such a special painting for me. I don’t know if I have mentioned the story behind this painting but I am going to mention it again.
When my husband and I were first married, every Sunday afternoon we walked down Huckleberry Line Trail which was right near our apartment. The trail went to the VA Tech airport and there was a rain pond that we would sit by and just bird watch and listen to the various insects. It was always such a nice outing and the pond is no longer there so I am glad I painted it.
This time I am going to leave the painting up from the last post and add Huckleberry Line Trail Rain Pond and see if I can finish this without getting kicked off. Check out my latest painting demo video, the one from last Thursday, the painting from the last post and Huckleberry Line Trail Rain Pond. After I hit the publish button I am getting away from the computer. It is in danger of being chucked out the window and I don’t want to have to buy a new one.

Wall Art Prints and Prints on computer, clothe and home Items
Well, here I am again and I think I am gaining on this new WordPress stuff. Maybe one of these days I will stop wanting the old format. Hope so. Anyway, I still haven’t started my new shore painting but that will happen soon. Lots of other things in the way right now.
I hope we can get to the shore in the future but I am still too concerned about this pandemic to think about that right now. Anyway, I added a short video yesterday on one of my oil paintings. I am uploaded twice a week now.
The first one on Monday is a painting demo and the second one is my inspiration for a painting.
Check both out the video and a favorite shore painting below and have a great weekend!

Well, I am glad to begin a new floral and still having a hard time with the new WordPress format. Maybe it is a problem with my computer, but if I try to copy paste a paragraph frommy desk top document, it is turned into sentences here, and if I want to modify it, I have to modify each sentence. So I am just going to put up some short blogs right now and hope I can get better at this. I am pleased that I have developed a sense of humor regarding computer changes and glitches. I used to get so frustrated but now I just go with the flow until the changes sink in. It is always some little thing that is holding me up.
Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler
Clyde and I have been puzzling over the news on TV regarding Space flights. The cost right now is $250,000.
Space, the final frontier
Space, the final bank account
I think Clyde is right. I would never go into space regardless of the cost. I don’t even like airplanes.
Not doing very well, but I will figure this out. I want to change the size of the letters. Let’s see if I can do that without pulling my hair out. I did it. Yea!Glad I am starting to figure this out. It certainly is very different from the classic format and I can’t say I like it but maybe I will after a few trys.
I am pleased with my latest painting and am considering a floral next. I think some of my most successful paintings are florals but there is something I am after in them that is just always beyond my reach. As always, there is something to learn and I think I am close. I know I will never get there but that is what keeps me going. Getting closer and closer is great and always yields some fine paintings along the way.
Life of an artist can be crazy but it is the life for me! I am posting twice a week on Youtube and and just a few short of 1k. Such a lot of great comments and I hope people are clicking on links to my work. I have been doing some very unusual paintings there using paper towels and napkins. I think they are great abstracts! On Mondays I am uploading demos and on Thursdays I am uploading one painting and talking about the inspiration for it.Below are the two youtubes and my latest Blue Ridge painting.
I am just about done with my latest Blue Ridge painting and it was a struggle but I am happy with it and it is time to move on. I am so pleased with all the attention I am getting on Youtube so I am going to try to post my latest here but I am still quite confused with the WordPress new format. Since I can click on the youtubes in previous posts, I think I can still do that in the free version. Clyde and I came in on the middle of a very old movie last night. A guy bought his girlfriend two bunches of violets for twenty cents. Clyde said you couldn’t buy one wilted petal for that now! That is for sure. Times certainly have changed!
I have decided after much consideration that I am going to scale back on blogging. I am spending so much time on Social Media that it is hard to have a life and difficult to get to my paintings. I will still blog here but I no longer have the Premium version so I don’t have the same features.
Youtube is where I am gaining a lot of attention so I am going to concentrate on my channel. The channel is easy to remember since I am using my name.
I was putting up twenty minute videos once a week but I am thinking of adding shorter ones, too.
So pleased to sell another print of my husband’s book, Fiddling at Midnights Farmhouse to a great North Carolina patron! I gave up trying to get the painting uploaded. Neither the small or large file would work so I put up another illustration from the book and the link. The one that sold, Willow Eye, is in that collection.
I am having a hard time figuring out the new WordPress so I am not sure what to expect with this blog. I can’t seem to find the page that has the features for a free website so I don’t know if the Youtubes can be played.
I always copy paste the last blog and change the paintings around which I can’t seem to do today in the new version. I will eventually catch on. I don’t have time to look at Youtube tutorials and oftentimes those tutorials tell you to go to a section that doesn’t exist on the site so I have had enough computer aggravation for one day. Cheers on a Tuesday!

Working away at my latest painting and will have it up soon! Just a few more touches.Â
Looking forward to starting another atmospheric Blue Ridge painting. I like to paint in many different directions but the mountains of Southwest Virginia and the Blue Ridge are my favorite selections for subject matter and the hardest paintings I do.Â
The interaction of warm and cool colors is so difficult to achieve without them blending to grey but I have learned so much about how to get that effect so it is more and more a pleasing experience.
Cheers on a Friday! Please check out my latest Youtube above!Evening Light from Sharp Top Original 12″ x 9″ Oil Pastel painting $246

Yea! Clyde got his vaccine shot today! I am still waiting on an opening but I am hopeful it will be soon and I am so excited about my latest landscape.Â
The light is not right now but I will get to it tomorrow. I can’t explain why I am so happy with it. It isn’t finished so it could take another nose dive off a studio cliff but I don’t think that will happen. Love to paint! Live to paint!
Cheers on a cold Tuesday! Please check out my latest video above. This one is on watercolor technique.

We don’t eat a lot of sausage since it has so much fat in it. I couldn’t find the kind I usually get for spaghetti so I got some turkey sausage. I thought it would be nice to try it out. Well, as I was cooking it I went down the hall to give a comment on it to Clyde.
Guess what this sausage needs?Â
Sausage?
You read my mind. There are bumpy things in the sauce but I just taste sauce. Oh well, it is better for you than pork sausage.Â
So is sea weed but I don’t want that in my spaghetti.Â
Understood. No more turkey sausage.
