I have the second stage of Standing Shadows completed and am pleased with the intense mood of this work.  The girl looks as if she is holding herself for security but she is about to walk off the podium into the shadows.  Pleased with the strong emotive effect that is accentuated by vibrant color contrast.  I think this one will be the last one for a while.

There will be one more layer but it may not look that different.  I achieved what I wanted to achieve with these new nudes and now I want to move on to something else. 

Time for a break!  Going to the lake before it rains.  The warm weather ends so quickly that I am determined to get to the lake as much as possible.

I am having a great time working on my latest addition to my Beautiful Nudes series!  I keep wondering when it is going to start aggravating me.  It is in acrylics and acrylics don’t usually aggravate me the way oil paint does.  Don’t misunderstand.  I love to paint and I really do live to paint but it isn’t easy.  If it were easy I think it would be boring and I would give it up.  It is always a new experience that challenges all that I am as an artist. 

It is such an intense mind experience.  As long as I can stand up I will paint.  I know many people think artists sit and some do but most do not because they have to walk back and forth and see how the work looks at a distance.  It shouldn’t only exist up close.  We want the experience to carry far into a space. 

Time to get into that space and get to work!

Still trying to get to my latest painting. What we have here is the failure to communicate. 

Clyde never misses an opportunity to turn one of my requests into a joke. 

With the acquisition of our latest car, I decided we, that especially includes my two guys, were not going to junk it up with trash that ends up under the seat and I get the fun job of getting it out.  I would have been shot into the middle of next week if I pulled that stunt on my parents. 

Anyway, when we got back from our NC wedding trip we had a little trash from the trip so my first remark before exiting the car was I am going to be sure to get this trash out. 

Don’t worry. I am getting out.

Lots of rain today.  I have never minded rainy days.  They are quite peaceful if there isn’t a storm going on. 

I am still adding paintings to my Beautiful Nudes series.  So far I have been working on 9″ x 12″ ones but I decided to work on a large one.  I always like to work on big paintings. 

I remember hearing an artist on TV say size is only measurement but I don’t agree.  I like all sizes but I prefer the vista of a large work, especially for landscapes.  The bigger the better! 

I am glad for all the print options these days.  Patrons can get huge prints of my work and I do have some very small works that are not for sale due to the quality of the paper and paint.  The prints are great and archival!

More Fall of the House of Kessler. We are waiting on a plumber to give us an assessment on pipe replacement.  We still have a  hole in our son’s room where the massive leak destroyed a large section.  Now the TV we had hooked up to cable decided to completely die. 

We thought it might have to do with the cable service.  It would come on but only show the symbol for the brand but not go to any channels.  The only way we could get rid of the symbol was to unplug it.  Well, the cable service provider came over today and pronounced it dead.  Now where do we bury it?  I don’t want to pile more junk up.  I was hoping it could be fixed.  Oh well, time to get a new one.

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Our printer can be very irritating.  Sometimes when I turn it on it is ready to print and other times it boops and beeps for a very long time before printing.  I told Clyde I could knit an entire Afghan before it would print. 

He said he could walk to Afghanistan, maybe have to use a row boat here and there, but still be back before it started to print. 

I think he is right. I hope I can get the prints I need before someone writes my obituary.

It is heating up outside and I am looking forward to blowing up my inner tubes and going to Claytor Lake!  Love swimming there!  Alan and I do some laps and then we spin around in our tubes. 

The temperature is climbing and I am looking fondly at my swimming suit.  Last week I went to the Aquatic Center for the first time in many months.  It is so hard to find time to get over there but I did it last Wednesday which turned out to be high on my list of worst days ever.  Irritations galore plus bad news from a relative made me look forward to Thursday. 

Oh well, we all have bad awful days like Grover from Sesame Street.  I read Grover’s Bad Awful Day to Alan many times and I often think of the solution.  Go get a ice cream sundae and cheer up!  I had a caramel creme yogurt bar instead but it was great!
