Had to go on a trip for a family matter that I hope is settled. Einstein really was right. Everything is relatives.

Anyway, we came back to a spaghetti dinner complete with corn for Clyde. Due to a certain medicine he is on right now he can’t have bread so noodles are out.

I think I will call it Skettilash since it looks like some kind of goulash. Rained all day here. Hope all of our legal problems are cleared up soon. Cheers on a gray day.

New Computer is not happy with old setup

I was afraid this was going to happen. After much wrangling we got the new computer to shake hands with the old printer but it turned up its nose at the old scanner.

Of course, I was sent a form that I needed to print out, sign, scan, and then email back to the sender. How often do I have to do that? It is usually a docusign form.

A friend helped out and now I need to get files from Aperture on the old computer. If I look in the back up gizmo it just has the Aperture icon that can’t be opened on our new computer.

Sometimes I really don’t like computers. Today is one of those days.

We finally set up our new computer last night and all is well but I keep getting an error message with a cute little cat looking at me on one site.

After some going around in circles I was able to get the site back on Chrome but not Firefox.

I am getting better at handling these problems with a lot less cussing.

received another Covid booster shot yesterday and was hoping it would be like the last one. My arm was fine and I didn’t have a fever.

Not this time. My arm was so sore that I didn’t sleep but a few hours last night. Also I had a fever and had the worst time getting warm.

Oh well. I am glad to get the vaccine. It certainly beats getting Covid.

Now to stumble through this day that is full of appointments. Yikes!

I try so hard to be organized so my studio is not a mess. I am doing better than I used to do but it is starting to look pretty bad.

I know why. Even though I have lists to tell me where everything is, somehow something is either not on the list or it has magically disappeared.

Then I have to go through everything looking for it and that creates the mess. I’ll bet there are many reading this that know exactly what I am talking about.

Oh well. Maybe I can find some time today to straighten it out. Yeah right. On to something else.

I like to make a list to refer to. Zoom meetings really are like seances. Are you there? Is everybody here now?

One time I forgot that I already had the Zoom link on an email and was waiting for a new email. I know I have the link this time so I won’t mess up.

Kind of at a loss for words today but I will be starting my large painting today! Yea!

Finally have the board prepared and the file I want to work with. My files are my sketches. The paintings are a creative elaboration of them.

As I have said, Photorealism is not for me and I don’t like plein air. The light is constantly changing and well meaning people that are just interested in the process make it very difficult to concentrate.

Anyway, looking forward to getting my chores done and starting a new large work!

So behind in my paintings but I will get to the Claytor lake ones soon. Yesterday I got a lot of great files of the New River with fall colors that I want to turn into expressive paintings after the Claytor lake ones.

I need to order more paint from Utrecht. I mostly order their Gamblin oil paint which is very expensive and a better grade than Utrecht. On my last order I thought I included the blue I use a lot of and the other day I saw that I had not ordered it so have to get some more.

Some days I wish I had stayed in the traditional very thin to thick handling of paint. The paint lasts such a long time but now I am not happy unless I paint thin to very thick impasto layers.

The one in the Youtube at the bottom has a strong visible topography. I am very pleased with it.

We may actually get our new computer set up today now that I was permitted by Apple to change my password.

I can’t believe we had to wait such a long time to do that and then our friend’s father became ill and he could not help us but I think today is the day!

Hope we don’t run into any more obstacles!

I hate living around a machine but that is the way things are now so we have to update.
