I always check the website before I go swimming.  Radford does not have an indoor pool so I have to go to Christiansburg which is only about a fifteen minute drive.  Still, I check the website to make sure it isn’t closed to the public due to a meet.  There was no mention of a meet where the pool hours is listed.  I didn’t realize until I got home that there is a separate tab for meets.

When I got there there were so many cars I was sure there was a meet.  There was a sign at the door about today’s meet.  I was so pleased when I got inside to find out that the leisure pool was open and there were only a few swimmers so I got my laps in.

I showered and if I had just finished a few minutes earlier I wouldn’t have been surrounded by a zillion teen age girls that had just finished the competition.  It was elbow to elbow and very hard to dress without bumping into one of them.  Well, glad to see them since I have been told by a life guard that the meets supply a lot of funding for the center.

I awoke to the sound of my son screaming in the kitchen.  He had dropped a large glass jug of apple juice on the floor and began to clean it up.  When I got there he had apple juice foot prints in the rug in the living room. 

He got up all the glass without a scratch but didn’t clean the mop out so he had mostly pushed the apple juice around the floor.  I showed him how to get the mop clean so he could finish the job. 

Then I cut myself on my plastic capuchino jar.  Didn’t think that was possible but it was.  I have so much to do and I am determined to paint so I had better get going!

Life with The Bird and Word Man – Clyde Kessler

I just got off the phone with my brother who has a doctorate in computer science and does computer contracting out of his home.  Clyde works on a computer all day and knows a lot more about this machine than me.  I sit in front of it and sometimes think I could get a turtle to walk across the keys and get things done faster.

I am Computer LD.  Once I figure something out I have got it, but it takes a while.  Of course, then things change and I am lost once again.  Now I am trying to figure out why my instragram icon on my phone keeps taking me to a message screen and then I can’t change it.  I’ll figure it out just in time to update it and get lost again.  Cheers!

Clyde and I love puns!  The other night we were discussing how some people like them and some people hate them.  I wonder why they crack me up and other people practically tell me to shut up when I use one.  Okay, they don’t actually say shut up but they do groan.

Anyway, when I shared a great one on Facebook I got some likes and one groan. The friend said it was not funny, but nice try.

Well, I thought it was hilarious.  A guy jumped off a bridge in Paris. I guess he is in seine.  If you hate it, don’t groan too loud!  LOL!

Life with The Bird and Word Man – Clyde Kessler

Clyde and I often discuss what appears to be climate changes.  There are a lot of indications that our climate is changing and adversely affecting our environment.  Of course the melting of the polar ice caps is one of the strongest indication of change.

I am surprised that so many people do not believe there is a problem.  A lot of people point to heavy snowfall in their area which they say proves there is no warming trend.  They don’t realize that the entire world has to be taken into consideration, not just one area.  Winter 2015 was the warmest one on record. If they actually studied the issue they may change their minds.

Clyde’s response is there seems to be something going on with our environment that is not good.  What is not going on is education.

I am back to acrylics for a while and am definitely rusty after so many hours painting in oils.  They are quite different but I like to use both.  I like oils the best but it is great to work so fast in acrylics.  The paint drys right before your eyes so a lot of layers can be done.

Usually when I talk to Clyde he comes up with some quip that cracks me up.  This time I came up with something that made him laugh which is no easy thing to do.  He is a tough audience while I tend to laugh so hard the neighbors from down the street complain.

 

Anyway, he and I both tend to have a negative view of progress in technology.  We are always worried about the consequences of certain advancements.  Now it is the drones we are concerned about. 

 

I mentioned to him the negative view we seem to have about technology and he said it isn’t the technology he is worried about.  I replied that maybe it was the stupidology that oftentimes follows the technological advancements. 

Made him laugh!  Yes!!!

Well,  I am having no problem seeing Monday!  Sunday shot by but today is going at a more even pace. I was so pleased to sign the finished Field of Beauty oil painting!  I think the surface is exceptionally sensous and instricate.  I think this is my best floral so far.  I didn’t lose any of the intense color as I modeled the forms and I think it sings out to the world!

Life with The Bird and Word Man – Clyde Kessler

Saturday I was in the drive through with my son at a fast food restaurant.  There was one car ahead of us and while we were waiting I saw a ground hog calmly munching a large piece of bread by the other car.  We had to laugh. It wasn’t a cat or dog but a ground hog having lunch. 

We couldn’t understand why it didn’t take the bread and run.  It just kept eating and staring at us with a funny look on its face.  I told Clyde and he said maybe the ground hog was trying to tell us he couldn’t believe we ate that food full of GMO canola oil and other weird stuff. 

I don’t think that was what the look he was giving us meant because by the time we got to the window the bread was gone.
