Yikes! We have been so careful about this virus and stayed away from groups, received our vaccinations, worn our masks and now we are worried we may have Covid.

Hopefully our tests will come back negative. We attended a very small friend’s wedding. There were only twelve people and we all wore masks until the reception.

My friend called last night to say her son and fiance have Covid. Anyway, I would very much to be some where else so here are some more beach scenes.

Not much to say today. I do know which wildflower painting I will be working on next.

I was real pleased with the fun reactions I received for my latest Youtube demo which is below. I love my Suggestion Series and this time a lot of forms showed up.

One viewer told me what he saw at different times in the video. I will have to go back and check out what he was seeing. At the end of all his comments he said he was sober. LOL!

I am very pleased to sell another print of my second most popular shore painting, Beach Houses at Pawleys Island to a great Virginia patron! So glad this painting is getting around. The original was sold years ago.

I am back into my Skyline Beauty series and have completed two more of San Diego on Youtube. I love this series and have included some favorites here. I have used so many different approaches that I think are very creative.

I will never forget my third grade teacher telling me I had scored extremely high on a creativity test and she said I should tell my parents that. I just thanked her and smiled. I didn’t know what she was talking about.

I can’t seem to get it together to start a new painting. I guess I will get to a new one when I finally straighten out this house and get ready for Christmas. The days fly by way too fast. I will get to a new one soon.

I get depressed when I don’t paint. My weekly youtube paintings help but my main work will always be layered oil paintings that require a lot of more time.

I have finished my latest wildflower painting and I am very happy with it! Decades ago I destroyed paintings that did not turn out to my specifications. I am so glad I am able to accomplish what I was not able to accomplish when I started out in my art career.

I am still learning with every painting and they are never perfect but, all modesty aside, they are close!

So pleased to sell more prints of Richmond on the James to a great Virginia patron! This time they are on Christmas ornaments. Such a popular skyline painting.

It is ironic that the Youtube I filmed on Saturday is a Skyline Beauty painting. I decided I wanted to get back into those and I have some new ideas for them. I like to come up with different approaches and I think this latest San Diego one came out great!

Fun with Wildflowers

I am really into wildflowers right now and am happy with my latest one. I think I am going to paint two more from that patch, same size. Love to work with subject matter that is loaded with color and intricate textural surfaces.

Sometimes it gets difficult to get as much color modulation as I want because of the number of flowers. If a painting gets laborious, it starts to lose the spontaneity and joy that I insist on in my work.

I have one that required too much attention to each flower and it did lose some expression so I don’t let them happen anymore. Got to move the painting along!

I decided to do something completely different for my Youtube demo this week. Whenever I use that phrase I can’t help but think of Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Those great comedians liked to introduce segments that way. Anyway, I forced myself to just use one color and tints of that color. Check it out below!
