Flower Fall is another sensuous, colorful painting from my series,
Suggestions. I am starting with an abstract expressionist surface and then looking for forms that appear in the paint. This time flowers that looked like they were falling began to appear so I emphasized that motion and added a few more flowers. I am especially pleased with the subtle contrast in this one that presents a serene mood.

Life with the Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Painting is such a difficult pursuit.  One minute it is great and then what you thought was great doesn’t seem so great after all.  The ups and downs can be very hard on a person’s mental outlook.  Years ago a friend that worked in an asylum said artists live on the edge of sanity.  They walk a tight rope that most people don’t understand.  He was also a painter.

 

Sometimes I get so involved in a painting that it becomes too important.  I always back away then and say it is only a painting.  It may seem like a matter of life or death to me, but it is only a painting.

 

The other day I was having such a difficult time that it was getting me down.  Sometimes I think I am losing my mind but I have too good a sense of humor to let that happen.  I asked Clyde if he ever felt like he was losing his mind.  He said in order to lose a mind you have to have one first.

Okay.  Good point!  I’m laughing again!

The Light is Great!

It is a beautiful day and the light is great in my studio.  When an artist uses as many colors as I do, the light is extremely important.  I remember reading an article about 20th Century painter Pierre Bonnard and his efforts to help a young artist.  He would tell him it was time to quit when the light was not right.

It does make all the difference!  My Daylight Florescents can only do so much.

I love all the arts and if I had a bunch of lives I would seriously pursue every one of them!  I live to paint but I also play the piano and line dance.

 

I have the greatest respect for artists and I hate it when people won’t hire an artist when they need one.  I am talking about commercials that have the people that are advertising act out skits to sell.  That really gets on my nerves.  I can’t get to the mute button fast enough.

Locally, there are two businessmen that put on skits on commercials that are horrible!  They make me appreciate actors and all they go through to master their craft.

They are so bad that I honestly think I could do a better job and I have never had an acting lesson.

Clyde says two squirrels from out back yard could audition for the commercial and do better even if they were hired to play themselves.

Five teaspoons, not three…

I try so hard to be careful when I cook because my mind wanders.  I don’t like to watch mysteries for the same reason.  I don’t play close enough attention to catch the clues.

 

Anyway, today when I was adding ingredients to a bread machine I kept telling myself I needed to add five teaspoons of yeast instead of three because it was Expressbake.

I added three.  Oh well, it looks like it rose enough.

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

 

I have so many things to remember all the time.  Between my artwork, promotion, housework, and records I am always trying to get things straight.

We have greatly changed our diet due to a friend’s testimony to the great benefits of organic food.  She has two cancer stricken friends that are actually improving without chemo.  They both went organic.  That is all the proof I need.  I am not afraid of dying but I am petrified of chemotherapy.

Because of this change we have to go to many different stores to get what we need.  My favorite organic seasoning has to be bought thirty miles away where Clyde works.  I have been reminding him of this but he keeps forgetting.  Yesterday I told myself to be sure to put the old canister out to remind him. 

Of course, I forgot.  I was so pleased this morning when he called and said he remembered.  I told him I was going to attach the empty canister to his arm after he went to bed so he would remember, but I forgot.

He said he attached it right after he took his morning shower. LOL!  Yes, I am getting this great spice today!

Coneflower Twirl is one of my few colored pencil drawings. I haven’t met the medium I don’t like but my main passion is for oil paint. This drawing is in a white mat. Buyer can have it framed to suit his or her taste.

After a number of days of frustration with this machine that is extremely helpful and extremely aggravating, I am frustrated but not giving up.

Still can’t get the software I paid for to work properly and I don’t have the time to do the computer chore it is supposed to do for me. I keep at it with support and hope to clear up the problems soon.

Last night after a particularly grueling session with this machine I went into the other room and told my husband that I thought we needed a new computer. 

He asked why and I said because I just saw the one we have fly out the window.

Life with the Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

As usual, I am fighting with the computer.  I bought Tweetadder software a while back and have been having trouble using it since day one.  It is so frustrating.  I have to spend way too much time retweeting people since I have 18k followers. 

Tweetadder is supposed to help with that so I can just look through the notifications rather than retweet each one.  I am pretty sure I have the screen set up right so I notified Tweetadder and they said send a screen shot. 

I looked up how to do that on this Mac and instead of a shot I keep getting my last copy when I try to paste it.

 

I called the Word Man and asked if this was the Computer Help Desk.  He said it was either the Helpless Desk or the Beyond Help Desk, take your pick.

Arghhhh! 

He couldn’t help so we are calling our young friend again.  Maybe he should move in.
