The ants are back and sipping away at the poison. Hope it works. Now I have a new kitchen friend! The last few days I have seen evidence of an intruder and today the Have a Heart mouse trap has a guest sleeping in.
This is our second mouse and I hope the last. Clyde will take it to the river and set it out there. I hope it is having a nice nap after scrambling all over my kitchen last night. When it comes to pests our kitchen is the place to be!

It is a beautiful day and the light is great in my studio. When an artist uses as many colors as I do, the light is extremely important. I remember reading an article about 20th Century painter Pierre Bonnard and his efforts to help a young artist. He would tell him it was time to quit when the light was not right.
It does make all the difference! My Daylight Florescents can only do so much.

Apple a Day Original Acrylic Painting NFS
Prints on Paper, Canvas, Metal, Greeting Cards, pillows, !phone and galaxy phone cases Available at KENDALL KESSLER ART
Apple a Day is another sensuous, colorful painting from my series, Suggestions. I am starting with an abstract expressionist surface and then looking for forms that appear in the paint. This time an apple shape began to appear so I made it into a very lively still life. I am especially pleased with the brushwork in this one.

This time a can shape began to appear so I made it into another fun still life. I am especially pleased with the color contrast in this one.

Life with the Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler
I love all the arts and if I had a bunch of lives I would seriously pursue every one of them! I live to paint but I also play the piano and line dance.
I have the greatest respect for artists and I hate it when people won’t hire an artist when they need one. I am talking about commercials that have the people that are advertising act out skits to sell. That really gets on my nerves. I can’t get to the mute button fast enough.
Locally, there are two businessmen that put on skits on commercials that are horrible! They make me appreciate actors and all they go through to master their craft.
They are so bad that I honestly think I could do a better job and I have never had an acting lesson.
Clyde says two squirrels from out back yard could audition for the commercial and do better even if they were hired to play themselves.

More People Paintings
Sometimes I like to paint people that I don’t know in an intensely expressive manner. The vendor here is bathed in coloristic light and strong cool shadows.
Vendor Painting Not For Sale
Prints on Paper or Canvas and Greeting Cards Available at KENDALL KESSLER ART
Vendor is an expressive, colorful look at a street vendor in a parking lot. The color contrast makes this painting an especially eye-catching work. My work is unique to me but it harkens back to both Impressionism and Expressionism. This painting is one of my more Expressionistic works like the work of Edvard Munch, one of my favorite painters.
Intensity Painting Not For Sale
Prints on Paper or Canvas and Greeting Cards Available at KENDALL KESSLER ART
Intensity is my most expressive portrait. The color contrast and strong brushwork make this an exciting visual experience. I love to push warm/cool color relations and get them to sing. This painting is a great example of that concept. The man is lost in thought but not oblivious of his surroundings. The shadows add to the expression and emphasize the value patterns that connect the space.
Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler
A few days ago a bear was spotted in downtown Radford! This certainly doesn’t happen very often but the incident inspired my husband to come up with his own report! Leave it to my husband to turn a scary event into something funny!
Early this evening a bear was sighted running a red light in downtown Radford.
It is supposed that it was late for a fraternity pledge or a movie. No police officer bothered to stop it for a ticket.
Thank you for looking at paintings by an Artist of The Blue Ridge Parkway
All paintings are hard. Most artists say it is fun at first and then it gets more and more difficult and then you just want to finish it.
You are never completely happy with the work but it usually looks great after some time has passed and you forget what was bothering you about it or you know exactly what to do to complete it.
Well, sometimes it starts out great and just keeps going to the end! I have one of those right now and can hardly wait to put it online! I hope I can finish it today.
Cheers!

I sure am having a lot of problems adding my latest Youtube! I got it started today and then it started thundering so I had to shut my computer off. I think it is safe now so I will try again!
When I go into my studio I am always reminded of a famous Bette Davis line. “What a dump!” I have two choices when I go in there. I can work on a painting or I can clean up. Guest which choice wins most of the time?
