Heart Twirl is another sensuous, colorful painting from my series,
Suggestions. I am starting with an abstract expressionist surface and then looking for forms that appear in the paint. This time a heart like shape began to appear so I made it into a stylized heart with a curving edge. Then I accented the shape with curving, calligraphic line. I am especially pleased with the linear accents in this one.

Over the years that have gone by so quickly Clyde and I have oftened quoted my Dad who asked towards the end of his life, “Where did the time go?”

I will never forget an intro by Woody Allen for his movie, Annie Hall.  He moans about all the problems in life, how difficult every thing is and how so many things go wrong and he ends with the biggest problem which is that it is over with much too quickly.

I live to paint but I can’t eat them and I can’t take them with me so I spend a lot of time on the computer promoting my work.

Today my brother called and we talked for a pretty long time but it was just one phone call and now I am scrambling to catch up on computer chores.

I guess all the time we are on the computer is a line that can be added to Woody Allen’s gripe- but don’t forget the last line. Life really is short so gripe away and enjoy the day!

On my Way to the Pool I made a Detour to Line Dancing class…

I think it is very important to swim once a week.  It is the only exercise that helps the body without any harm.

I had every intention of doing my laps today.  I packed my suit and towels and was on my way when I gave in to temptation and ended up at Line Dancing class instead. 

Oh well.  Line Dancing is great, too.  Maybe I will get to the pool tomorrow.

I can’t believe that I forgot that Line Dancing was cancelled last night.  It is a half hour drive to Pulaski and I made that trip for nothing.  Clyde said that must have been a short class. 

I hang appointment notices from the kitchen doorway and mark all over the calender.  I try to read as much Spanish as I have time for on the internet and still can’t find my glasses or remember some important things said to me like class cancellation.

 

I guess I will just have to keep remembering the saying on Facebook that it isn’t age that is causing memory problems, it is just that I have so much information over the years that I can’t keep track of it all.

 

That sounds good!

I must be getting real tired of cleaning up the studio.  Usually I mess it up again a few days after cleaning it up.  This time the Art Blob is no where is sight.  Yea!  I wonder how much longer that will last…

Last night while my son was doing his laundry we heard very loud gurgling sounds coming from the bathrooms and the laundry room.  The rest of the evening was spent cleaning up the horrible back-up and calling the plumber.

The machine that was used to inspect the line was $200 and the total cost of the repair was $349!  Ouch!  I am still cleaning the floor underneath the washer.

Oh well!  Line Dancing is tonight!  That will put the smile back on my face.  Some more sales of artwork would do as well!  Here is hoping that will happen!

Last night at my son’s bowling league I was looking at his score from a distance and became very confused.  He was on the 10th frame and it looked like he had a 6 and a 2 and he picked up the ball to bowl again. 

I couldn’t understand why he wasn’t done and then the third ball became a spare.   Then I realized that 6 was a strike!

 

I am definitely not farsighted.  Just need the reading glasses.

Dreamscapes

About a decade ago I began having dreams in my sleep of paintings I had never seen before. They look like mine but are less distinct and seem to wave. They also have less contrast and a lot more blue than my other work. A few years ago I decided to try to put some of these on canvas.

I rarely have those dreams now but when I do the paintings are by someone else in the dream. How strange that I would invent paintings for other people in my sleep!

I especially like the flowing motion in this painting.  The flowers and leaves move around the space much in the same way that the lines and colors in the cloth do.  It is a feast of color!

This morning when my husband called me to get me up I was so tired that we had a strange conversation.  We can’t get certain organic items here so once a week he picks up some things at a store where he works. 

I know you want tomatoes but what about cabbage?

We still have some from last week.

I didn’t see any.  Where is it?

In the refrigerator. 

The refrigerator?  I never thought to look there.

Ha ha!  Wow am I tired.  Maybe I put it in the dryer.

Okay and I’ll check my sock drawer.  It must be around there somewhere.

 

Do you think he might have been a little sarcastic?
