Started my first new abstract painting and am going to start another one before I go to the second stage of the first one.  It is always hard to know when to say a painting is finished but I find it is especially hard when there isn’t any recognizable subject matter. 

As I said last time, these paintings are like music without words but when are there enough notes and are they working together?  Anyway, here is Blue Streak Stage One.  It may change, it may not, but it will be included in my portfolio.

Such a beautiful Monday!  Not too hot and there is a nice breeze coming through the window.  A brown thrasher is digging under the brush where the bushes are.  It is making quite a lot of noise as it looks for food.  This time of the year the birds around the house are very loud.  Sometimes in the mornings they wake me up with shrill calls.  We have so many trees and bushes and many of them are building nests.  Glad to be of help. 

I put the finishing touches on my current nude paintings and I am considering working on some abstracts.  Music without words!  I mostly sell paintings and prints with recognizable subject matter but sometimes it is a great experience to create works that people either like or don’t like just based on their visual reaction to the colors and textures.

I am again saddened by another mass shooting.  This is crazy and I am so sorry for the loss of innocent lives.  I don’t know what the answer is but I am bothered that the thought of being killed by an imbalanced person where ever I go is always in my mind. 

This did not happen when I was young.  No one thought someone would just start shooting people at a place of business, school, or anywhere else.  I wish there was a way to stop this madness.  In the great movie, The Dresser, in one scene the main character played by the late Albert Finney gave theater tickets to a man that had just lost his home.  He told him he hoped they would bring him some comfort.  I hope that my paintings that are always meant to be uplifting bring some comfort to people.

On a happier note, I finished Standing Shadows and it is now on my website.  The original is available as are wall art prints and prints on just about anything.

I have the second stage of Standing Shadows completed and am pleased with the intense mood of this work.  The girl looks as if she is holding herself for security but she is about to walk off the podium into the shadows.  Pleased with the strong emotive effect that is accentuated by vibrant color contrast.  I think this one will be the last one for a while.

There will be one more layer but it may not look that different.  I achieved what I wanted to achieve with these new nudes and now I want to move on to something else. 

Time for a break!  Going to the lake before it rains.  The warm weather ends so quickly that I am determined to get to the lake as much as possible.

I am having a great time working on my latest addition to my Beautiful Nudes series!  I keep wondering when it is going to start aggravating me.  It is in acrylics and acrylics don’t usually aggravate me the way oil paint does.  Don’t misunderstand.  I love to paint and I really do live to paint but it isn’t easy.  If it were easy I think it would be boring and I would give it up.  It is always a new experience that challenges all that I am as an artist. 

It is such an intense mind experience.  As long as I can stand up I will paint.  I know many people think artists sit and some do but most do not because they have to walk back and forth and see how the work looks at a distance.  It shouldn’t only exist up close.  We want the experience to carry far into a space. 

Time to get into that space and get to work!

Still trying to get to my latest painting. Yikes!  Too many other things to do with computer work and house repairs.  I have an appointment at 11:00.  Hope I can back to it after that.  Running around in circles.  It seems like Monday turns into Friday with the snap of my fingers.  I wish I could slow down time, at least a little.  Here is the first stage again.  It will change quite a bit in the next stage.
