A lot of locales on the East Coast are flooded and I am sorry for those places. I hope the water abates soon. I can’t help but be happy in the doughnut hole of the storm. We have a lot of rain but the streets are fine and the New River is where it is supposed to be!

Another mass shooting. It has become a routine way of life and I wish it would stop. I don’t want to get a gun. I wish I didn’t even have to consider that option to feel safe. I will not get one but I will always worry about my safety and the safety of my family. A mass shooting could happen anywhere and I don’t see an end in sight.

In many ways Clyde and I are not comfortable in the 21st century. People talking on cell phones while driving, our computer dominated society, and computerized roads. These things are kind of hard to take in.
I other night I teased Clyde when he complained about cell phones that we need to get into the 21st century. He replied that he was not in the 21st century. He was still picking dinosaur teeth out of his butt. Of course, I said there were no people around when dinosaurs roamed the earth. His reply was, “How do you know? Where you there?” Typical crazy Clyde answer! LOL!

Bowling starts tonight! I am always glad to get back to watching my son and his friends tear those pins apart! They have been on the league a long time and still love it! Great way to have fun and exercise!
Here is the first layer of my new floral landscape! I will start stage two tomorrow which will probably take more than one day due to the size of the work. Happy so far!

I just finished the first layer of my new painting and will upload it tomorrow. I usually get the first layer done in one day but this is a large painting and I was not feeling well yesterday. Much better today!
Cheers!

I have been without a cell phone for two weeks. I can’t believe the problems I have been having with phone service. I went online to transfer my number and minutes to a better phone and received the notice that once the old one went dead I had a few more steps to do and then the new one would be ready to use.
Well, I book marked the instructions and when my old phone went dead the book mark was gone so I went online to try to get to that step and could not get there. My only option was to call and get help from someone with a strong accent that I could barely hear. She said I was all set and could use the phone.
WRONG!
The phone would not change screens so I called again and after a long time the representative said for me to send it back after I received a label in the mail. I received a box the size of the first box. I had already carefully packed the phone in the first box. Inside the second box was a Fed Ex envelope.
My instructions were to send the phone back in the flimsy envelope. I kept the phone in the plastic it came in and asked the Fed Ex man if the phone would be all right sent that way. He said yes.
Anyway, Clyde and I have had so many problems with phones that he said we were like a couple of monkeys up a tree without a coconut.

When the rain started a few days ago I wrote about how I was enjoying the rain after such a long dry spell. Well, today no one in the New River Valley is enjoying the rain! Lots of flooding. So much flooding that Montgomery County schools closed early.
Okay. Enough! We need to dry off now.

I am excited about the start of a new floral landscape that is based on a field near the Radford hospital! The light is not good enough to continue work on my latest portrait but it is good enough for several layers on a new work. I really ought to write a book and entitle it, “Looking for the Light”.
My work is so complex that every shift in light makes such a difference in how it looks. I hate to work on the last layer on a cloudy day. My Daylight flourescent lights aren’t good enough to compensate for cloudy days.
Well, time to prepare the canvas!

I like to watch court cases. They are oftentimes hilarious. The other day a woman was suing a land lord who was letting her board for one year for free due to some kind of situation between them.
The judge was completely unsympathetic. The woman resorted to claiming she had been through hell with this land lord. Clyde’s quip was “Well, if she has been through hell, then the Devil doesn’t charge rent.”
