Wow!  Today I turned on the TV and was amazed to see two young girls slamming away at a stump with axes!  It was The Timber Sports Competition!  I had no idea there was something like that.  It really wasn’t that exciting to see.  Clyde was especially bored. 

Clydes says the next thing will be a Mud Drying Competition.  A player will say my mud is the fastest drying mud this side of the Sahara!

The Mud Drying Competition is definitely next!  Maybe they can include a pig to jazz up the sport!  Maybe the pig could be the judge! 

LOL! No offense to people that can split wood or the competition!

I am looking forward to getting back to some wild flower paintings after I finish my latest commission.  It is coming along but the drying time for each layer has been longer than usual.  I hope I can get back to it soon.  I need to get out some acrylics for some abstracts but I just can’t seem to get it together this time of year.  I am still trying to out run Santa.  Not much time left and I keep finding something I need to do. 

Gee, I wonder if I am the only one complaining about Holiday stress?  As Snoopy once said, “My mind reels with sarcastic replies.”

In our little city there is a smiling Frosty the Snowman across from the bridge that people enter Radford from Fairlawn.  It is looks real good there.  When I pointed it out to Clyde the other day and remarked on how happy it looked he, of course, had a goofy comment. 

Sure, it is smiling now, but when no one is looking it ducks behind a bush and smokes a cigarette.

Frosty wouldn’t do that. 

How do you know?  No one is paying him to stand there and smile.  I’ll be he frowns big time behind the bush. 

Another wacko comment from my curmudgeon. 

Frosty may not smoke a cigarette behind a bush but I’ll bet he would throw a snowball at Clyde if he got the chance.

Looking forward to a wedding today! A neice on Clyde’s side will be taking that big step this afternoon.  The church is an hour away so we said we would come if the roads are clear.  Well, the back roads are not clear so we are going to take the interstate.  We both hate the interstate but that is our only option.  I have only been to one other winter wedding and it was beautiful!  Time to get ready!  All my artwork will just have to wait until way later today.  Signing off from the internet.

Clyde and I have a lot of forms to fill out that are really irritating.  We take turns getting them in.  Clyde has one right now that may require him to check with an official that works with this sort of thing. Unfortunately, this clerical worker has to travel a lot and is hard to reach.

I mentioned that he would probably have to get help from that official and he said trying to get in touch with her is like trying to find a pink elephant  when you aren’t drunk.

Running around in circles today.  So much to do! I still have some Christmas shopping to do and Yoga class and Line Dancing class are today.  I will be playing the piano this Sunday for church so I have to go over and get used to an electric piano with action that is three times slower than my great Jesse  French and sons upright. 

Also, the paint on the third layer of my latest commission is about dry so I hope to get to that today, too.  I hope all the people in Dallas that keep looking at my favorite beach painting, Rehoboth Beach houses are planning to buy a print.  I sold that one years ago to a VA patron.  It is a very popular one for prints.

My curmudgeon hubby is at it again.  There was another Fix -Your- Back- With -This -Device commercial on last night we had not seen before.  One of the buyers said after he used the device he took the first steps without a cane he had taken in a long time.

I am trying hard to avoid work today which is a laugh.  I have already completed the first stage of my latest commission, two loads of dishes, and some cleaning up.  Workaholics have a hard time relaxing.  I have noticed that when I do watch TV for about twenty minutes I am doing something with my hands the whole time I am watching the DVD.  I have tried to stay perfectly still but I can’t do it.  Oh well.  Better to have too much to do then nothing at all.  I am never bored.

Clyde and I grew up during a time period when people could not put their phones in their pockets.  We managed to live without a cell phone for a long time and then realized they were necessary.  I don’t think there are many public phones these days.  I have to have one for my Art business and Clyde has one because he should have one. Those birds aren’t going to call me from the Blue Ridge Parkway.

No one could ever accuse us of zoning out and staring at a phone screen.  To give you an idea of how out of date we are, I bought Clyde a new phone weeks ago and he still has not transferred the minutes from his old broken phone to the new one. 

Yesterday I suggested he do that before he is dead.  Still hasn’t happened.  Maybe in a few days, weeks, years…

Getting ready for Thanksgiving with my husband’s family. Usually I just bring a desert but this time I am bringing everything.  My mother-in-law is not up to it this year. It is about time she took a break and I am bringing a lot of stuff that I hope doesn’t come back home to me. 

Since several family members don’t like turkey so I am bringing turkey and ham and a lot of other traditional dishes.  Looking forward to seeing everybody and I am not setting my scale back ten pounds as is advised on Facebook.  I just won’t step on it for a few days. It doesn’t matter that much.  I don’t stuff myself at holiday meals.  I love to eat and eating too much ruins the experience for me. 

Anyway, hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

I sent Clyde on a art supplies mission the other day.  The best store for art supplies in this area is in Blacksburg where he works.  I wrote down what I needed very carefully but I explained the brush I needed several times.  I needed a no. 4 round ox hair oil paint brush, not a flat one. 

I told him several times there are flat ones and there are round ones. 

Yes, and there is partial brain dead and completely brain dead.  I am the latter. 

Ha ha.  You can do it.  Just think of the frown on my face if you get it wrong. 

Okay.  Now I have incentive.  I won’t get it wrong. 

That’s the spirit!

My latest painting is thankfully past the driving-me-crazy stage and I am starting to see how it will work out.  Unless readers of this post paint, I am sure no one knows what I am talking about. That’s okay.  There are a lot of things I don’t understand but have great respect for.  Physics is one of those things.  Chemistry is another. Actually I am not well versed in Science at all. 

I know I use a lot of Math that can’t really be put into a formula except for Linear Perspective so I don’t think I am as ignorant of that science as I am of the others.  I really love the arts.  If I had more time I would study other things, especially History.  I think learning really is it’s own reward.  I believe if people studied more we could solve a lot of problems. 

Anyone listening to me?  I hope so.

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler

Last Thursday I braved the icy roads that were mostly slush to go to Yoga class.  I should have known it would be closed.  When I got home, I checked the website and the later class was still on so I went out again an hour later with my mat in the pouring rain.  Of course, it was closed.  Instead of the website I should have check my phone that had a message that it was called off due to weather. 

The next class was on Friday but it was a class for Moms and their babies.  I told Clyde they probably would not want me without a baby. 

Yeah, the mother’s might throw one at you. 

That’s ridiculous.  The baby might get hurt. 

You’re right. The babies would throw bottles and rattles at you. 

I stayed home.
