Such a beautiful day but I didn’t get a chance to get out and enjoy it. So much to do here and then our church had a great Benefit Concert for Beans and Rice, a wonderful group that helps people out as much as possible.
I wish I had taken pictures of all the terrific musicians but I was too enthralled listening to them, especially Tim Brower! He played a number of great pieces on the organ, including my favorite Bach fugue! I have the music for the piano but the Tocatta and fugue in D Minor sounds best on the organ.

Everything is breaking all at once! My bread machine practically blew up, our vacuum cleaner smoked and died and now my old Boom Box has boomed it’s last boom!
Got to extract myself from this computer and shop! If you remember the Dobie Gillis show then you remember Maynard’s reaction to anyone that said work. He would freak out and say the word like it was the end of the world. That’s about the same reaction I have to shopping.
Oh well, I will take Clyde along so I don’t buy some cheap junk. He is careful to get something good.

Back from vacation and the ants are on the march once again. I tried so hard to be careful about food items when we left. I put anything they might want in the refrigerator. But I left a box of Russel Stover’s candy on the counter!
Yikes! A trail of ants and a box full of ant covered chocolates.
I threw the chocolate away and they are still making the same trail to that spot on the counter. I told Clyde to tell the ants the chocolate is gone. He said the queen is probably yelling at the workers to get more so I told him to tell the queen the chocolate is gone. He said if he knew where the queen was we wouldn’t have an ant problem.
Ants, ants, ants! My kingdom for a pest free kitchen!

I am real excited about my new painting that I haven’t started yet! The Word and Bird Man is going to sit for me! I have done a number of paintings of my favorite model but they were all based on photos. This is going to be great! If you have ever wondered why artists paint themselves or family members there is a very logical reason. Family members don’t charge a modeling fee. There are other reasons as well but I think the lack of a modeling fee is number one – at least it is to me!

I have started setting up for a portrait in oils of Clyde. Right now I am deciding on the spacing, value patterns, and lighting. I had Clyde in there yesterday to work on the lighting. After a while I told him I didn’t need him just yet. Still have some decisions to make. He suggested I get a monkey to sit – a better looking monkey. No, he is the monkey, I mean man I want for the painting!
We have new neighbors and they have a very big pit bull that is, of course, chained right next to our fence. It is there because one of our trees provides a lot of shade there. When the shade moves all the way into our yard the dog digs a hole and gets in. It is on a good chain and seems like a sweet dog.
Oh well, Clyde piled up a lot of things at the fence and hopefully the dog won’t be able to get in.
The neighbors are going to see if they can find a place on the side of their house where there is some shade to put the dog in. Hasn’t happened yet. We’ll see.
But it seems like our dog problems never end. There are some new ones in another yard that bark and wake my husband up. This one very nice neighbor seems to find dogs that bark relentlessly in a monotonous manner. Hope they quiet down.

Glad to get some rain! We have some tomato plants and they were sagging a little. Clyde can’t eat tomatoes so I think it is real nice of him to plant them for me and Alan. I am trying real hard to get all of my work done so I can get out of here.
I am one of those rare girls that does not like to shop but my summer shirts are falling apart so I am going to suck it up and get to a store. Maybe I will break my ten minute shopping record!

I love to goad Clyde because he almost always comes up with a funny I like to post. Laughter is very important to me and sometimes he makes me laugh so hard I have to gasp for break. So far, we haven’t had to call 911!
As I have mentioned before I have always thought Clyde was a handsome man and he still is after all these years. He thinks I am kind, blind, and out of my mind but I don’t agree.
Since yesterday was our anniversary I told him I married Gorgeous George. His reply was then why did you marry me, too? Ha ha! I am not a bigamist, you fool!
My husband and I had a great anniversary today! We had lunch out together and took a relaxing walk in Wildwood Park. Such a lovely place, and, as usual, I was educated on a few things by my naturalist guy! I like being married to such a knowledgeable man from Ferrum, VA.
I never really grew up so I ask lots of questions just like a kid and he can answer almost all of them. The only thing I have ever stumped him on is certain cultivated flowers. He knows all the wild ones and I get lectures all the time about invasive plant species that are causing problems but I have to look up some private garden flowers.
Unlike the hilarious guys on the Expert Panel on The Red Green Show, Clyde will say I don’t know.

I have a number of lithographs that are not online so I am trying to catch up on my uploads. All of my lithographs were done when I was getting my MFA. I enjoyed lithography very much but the set up for that type of printing is more than I want to get into it.
I live to paint and a lithography press costs as much as a car and I would really need another studio for all the different stages of the work.
I am glad I still have a number of them and have hand colored some as well. Here is the black and white version of Kitchen.

Something very strange has happened this summer. We started out with the biggest army of ants I have ever seen. They would come in every day and sit around in a perfect circle around the poison drops I set out and just keep coming. Some days there were just a few so I would put the drops out and another army would come in.
There were so many that after a few days there were three perfect circles around the drops. I guess the ones in the back would just push the ones that were closer away so they could get some. It just didn’t seem that the drops were working so I quit putting them out.
Well, the other day there weren’t any. Yesterday, no ants. Today, no ants. I guess it just took a very long time to get to the queen so DING DONG THE QUEEN IS GONE! Yea!
I have completed the third stage of my current painting and now it is for sale as well as all sorts of prints! It is always hard to decide when a painting is done. I always lose something and gain something with each layer so I am so glad I decided to preserve the layers.
I may not have each layer but I can look at them online and maybe make a few more decisions on the work. But, for now it is time to step away and let it live. It is so easy to ruin a painting by expecting too much.
Pierre Bonnard would work on three at a time and then turn them to the wall so he wouldn’t get too caught up in them.
Anyway, here is the final painting! Check it out!

Please click on my latest Youtube! I am having such a great time working and I do mean working on my latest mountain sunset! I enjoy my Kendall Expressions and Suggestions but my style of mountain landscape painting is what I love the best! I have finished two stages of this painting and hope to have the third one up tomorrow! It is really coming along.
Here is the second stage.

We both like chocolate but I am especially addicted to it. I don’t think a day goes by without some sort of chocolate. I don’t just have a tooth that craves sugar. My whole body craves it. I think the only way I would give it up is if I were put in a straight jacket .
Anyway, yesterday I read on the internet that twenty bars of chocolate at one time is a lethal dose! I told Clyde this and he, of course said, “What a way to go. You may have a sugar overdose but you wouldn’t care.” I don’t know about that. One bar is plenty for me!
Another too fast day! I have said it before and I will say it again! As one of those TV judges said, “Say it, forget it, write it, regret it!” Be sure to proof read what you write on the internet. I was on the other end of a mistake today that hurt quite a bit. I know the person that wrote it just made a mistake but it is the sort of the mistake that can be avoided by proof reading.
I, of course, said it was okay, but it is going to take a little time to get over this one. Oh well. We all have 20-20 vision and perfect hearing when we are being offended but we are deaf and blind as bats when we offend. Keep smiling! That’s my motto.
