I can always count on Clyde for humor.  He has often mentioned to me that people didn’t appreciate his sense of humor when he was growing up so he would usually keep it to himself.

I seem to working harder and harder at my artwork and at household chores.  I am way too cheap to hire a cleaning women so I do it all myself and lately it has been running more and more into the evenings.  Yuck!

The other night I mentioned to Clyde that the old saying, ” From sun to sun a woman’s work is never done”should be “From sun to sun a stupid woman’s work is never done ” – Women that can’t seem to get other members of the household to help out.

He agreed with me as he picked up a dish to wash.  Smart husband!

Life with The Bird and Word Man – Clyde Kessler

A few years ago Clyde fell into a gopher hole and injured his hip.  Despite therapy he is still having trouble.  He has had a few other falls over the years and I worry he may have another one.

As we were walking through Wildwood Park the other day it occurred to me that maybe we should make our bathroom safer since a lot of serious accidents happen there.

I asked him if he thought we should add a bar to our bathroom. He said sure, salad or booze or both?

A teetotaler funny for today. I was surprised that teetotaler is not spelled teatotaler.  I checked.

Life with The Bird and Word Man – Clyde Kessler

Clyde has wanted me to hear the song of a white eyed vireo and yesterday there was one chirping away in Wildwood Park.  This bird takes notes from other birds and combines them into a song that sounds like, “Quick, give me the beer check.”  The song irritates the other birds.

I told Clyde I knew why it is saying “Quick, give me the beer check.”  One of the loudest most repetitive birds in that park is the towhee which says over and over again, “Drink your tea.”  I think hearing that all day long would make any bird want to say “Quick, give me the beer check.”  I surprised it doesn’t add, “I’m out of here.”

I am having more trouble with my old car that may or may not be a problem.  I keep hearing a strange noise that sounds like some sort of plank that is trying to fall out of the bottom.  It mostly happens when I back the car in or out of our driveway. 

I have started driving Clyde to our park walks to see if he can figure out what it is.  Of course, there is no sound when he is in the car.

He said maybe his big butt is applying so much weight to the car that the sound is being squished.

Clyde does not have a big butt.

I don’t have a funny from Clyde today.  I asked him yesterday if he had any quips but he said he was so busy with his heavy duty poetry and naturalist activities right now that it has taken the funny right out of him.
