I am real excited about my new painting which is a very small acrylic sunset in a marsh that I tried to paint in a youtube last week.  It was too much to even get one layer on a video and I like to keep them to twenty minutes so I got angry with it while filming and decided to abort and do a demo painting that wouldn’t take up so much time. 

I said some things I shouldn’t say, especially on a video so I destroyed that one.  The next day I looked at the aborted painting and thought it looked much better than I thought it did so I decided to work on it and it is just about done.

Since for a lot of my youtube videos I used cheap paint and paper it won’t be for sale but archival small and large prints will be available.  I think it will be a very popular painting.

So glad to sell another print of the very popular Richmond on the James to a great Nevada patron!  This one is another Christmas ornament print.  It is great to think of my artwork on Christmas trees!  Below is the painting with all kinds of print possibilities on my website and at the bottom of the post is the painting on a Christmas ornament on Zazzle!

Many years ago there was a commercial on TV making fun of Thanksgiving leftovers which I still remember. 

It was done to the 12 Days of Christmas song. 

The joke was going through all the dishes that could be used with leftover turkey and where five golden rings is, it had  Flaming Turkey Wings! We like to repeat that joke on Thanksgiving. 

This time when Clyde was eating more leftover turkey I mentioned I read that turkey is high in iron. 

According to who? The turkey farmers? 

Not sure, but it sounds good. 

Good for the farmers. That’s for sure.

 So much to do today that I didn’t get to paint but I will tomorrow.  I am trying to just cross things off my list without any distracting moves.  My yoga teacher just about did me in today. 

Enough Downward Dogs to make anyone bark.  Lots of arm stretches which are so good for my weak ones.  I can do a lot of sit ups but I have never done a pull up.  Maybe I will try someday now that I do a lot of yoga. 

Anyway, I am so pleased to sell another print of Cloud Swirl over The Peaks of Otter to a great Louisiana patron!  I had a great talk with her on Facebook about which type of print to buy and she decided that a large canvas print with black sides would be the best for her bedroom. I am sure she will love it! She has a large print of my most popular floral, Natural Rhythm, in her Dining Room.

Well, instead of painting today I filmed another youtube for Monday. This time I gave a tour of my studio.  I did that a long time ago when I didn’t have many followers and wasn’t actively interacting on Youtube. 

I didn’t look at it as a social media site.  I thought I could just put up youtubes and get a lot of attention.  Wrong!  Now I interact with all those that follow me and I have over 800 followers. 

I am going to continue to work at growing my channel since Youtube is so popular.  The one I made years ago was meant to be a humorous video about how hard it is to keep a studio clean.  I worked hard on it and would like to get more attention for it.  I am including it here!  Please check it out if you haven’t seen it!

I don’t have a lot to say today.  I have my igloo suit on and will soon finish my latest painting.  My studio is the coldest room in the house.  I learned years ago that a thick bathrobe over my clothes is much better than a sweater. 

I would have to turn the heat up much higher than is reasonable if I didn’t wear it.  I don’t know why I am such a cold person but my hands are like ice this time of the year.  Anyway,  I am hardly ever down, just cold.  Time to get to work!

Clyde doesn’t have a funny for me today but I found a site that has some great bird jokes despite the name.  Here is one from Really Bad Bird Jokes.com

Two vultures were in the desert eating a dead clown. The first vulture asks the second vulture: “Does this taste funny to you?”

Clyde is always cheerful.  He has so much to do that he doesn’t get into bad moods.  The only time I see him a little down is when the weather is so bad that he is prevented from getting outside to check on birds and other wildlife. 

It doesn’t matter how cold it is but when there is ice on the roads he doesn’t get out to his favorite spots.  So glad the roads are clear today.

Mondays don’t usually bum me out but I definitely got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.  I think the cold weather is getting me down a little. 

Usually I like the change of seasons and just because I have to wear a heavy bathrobe over my clothes is no reason not to enjoy looking at the pretty snow outside.  I am one of those extremely cold people. 

If I turned up the heat to accommodate me the others would burn up.

Anyway, I didn’t paint when the light was right so now I am mad at myself.  I don’t usually accept any excuses to keep from painting but I did this time.

Oh well, time to cheer up and look forward to spaghetti tonight!

It seems there is a way to get rid of unwanted fat without any sort of diet or exercise.

On the Dawn Detergent label is this;  “DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE.”

 

Clyde replied, “Does that mean you have to sit in the dishwasher to see if it works?”

The game is on and the guys are having a great time!  I hesitate to say that I don’t like foot ball but it just isn’t for me.  I hope I don’t get hate mail after saying that.  I do like some sports but I would rather dance than try to win anything.  I wanted to go swimming today but my neck is still a little sore so I will hold off until it is completely well.  I don’t want to injure it again.  The Country Line Dancers will be performing on Valentine’s Day!  Looking forward to it!

Anyway a friend posted a real cute funny the other day.

One woman asks a friend how she is doing on her diet.

The friends says not so good, for breakfast she had eggs.

The woman says that does not sound bad.

The friends says they were Cadbury eggs.

Clyde hates eggs but he sure will eat Cadbury ones!

In spite of a sore neck I was able to go to Yoga yesterday and the class was full!  Great to see so many people there!  I just avoided any position that involved turning my neck to the left.  It is still sore.  I still don’t know why I woke up Monday with a horrible pain.  Anyway, it is just about gone.  Yes!!!!

As I have mentioned ad nauseam I spend a lot of time on the computer promoting my artwork.  I used to run around to galleries which was quite a chore so I really shouldn’t complain about all my computer chores, but I do.

I am always thinking about what I need to do and don’t want to do and then I am reminded that most of the chores take two shakes of a lamb’s tail.

Well, the problem is there are so many chores that I am shaking that lamb’s tail all day long.

Clyde said I should watch out.  Peta might come after me.

Blue Ridge Parkway Artist is Having a Rough Monday and Nuts and Bolts

Monday is not starting off well. I thought I was working on a draft and instead I typed over yesterday’s post.  Oh well, like my son says, “Mondays and Tuesdays are rough on me.”

I am never using the glasses by the computer again.  They fall down my nose so I am always looking up at an angle and this morning I woke up with a sore muscle in my neck.  Ouch!  I have plenty of glasses in the kitchen and now one of those pairs will be here.

I have been married to the Word Man for so long that I am starting to come up with some humorous sayings. 

I am always baffled with the amount of attention that is paid to small things and not important ones.  I am not going to give out examples for fear of offending someone.

Here is what I came up with.

Attention to small things rather than the big problems in our society is the  nuts and bolts of stupid and that is what makes the world go around.

Clyde had a different ending to the saying but I think I had better not print it.  “World” will do.
