Just a short blog before I head home to visit family for a funeral. I am going to go off the grid for a few days as we mourn our wonderful mother. I have posted two beach paintings in her honor as I know she loved the shore, especially the North Carolina shore. Cheers to everyone in this cold weather.

I am so pleased to sell a wall art print of Mabry Mill in Fall to a great Texas patron! This is one of my favorite fall paintings of this beautiful sight in The Meadows of Dan. Tourists stream to this old mill all the time. When we visited it there were people all over the beautiful grounds. It is one of the most popular attractions on The Blue Ridge Parkway! If you are ever in Virginia be sure to check it out!

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler
Clyde and I have been catching up on the great TV sitcom Married with Children. I was too busy to watch TV when it was on and didn’t know what a hilarious show it is! The actors are terrific and the writers are fantastic!
The humor, especially the barbs that come out of Al’s mouth, are so like Clyde’s humor that I accused him of writing it and hiding the money in a Swiss bank account.
Yeah, and look at those pigs flying by the window and don’t wait for me while I take a very expensive cruise around the world.
Tell me that isn’t something Al would say! You know it is!

I actually worked on a painting, did computer work, went to yoga class, went to Line Dance class, practiced the church piano for Sunday and fixed dinner. House is a mess and I did a load of dishes before and after dinner. I wonder why I am tired? I wish I were on a beach where the sun is shining.
Still a lot to do. The trick is to do it without cussing. I find it is hard to watch one’s language when haste makes waste and the kitchen demons are after me. I know they are in there. I am clumsy but some things fall without my help.
LOL!

We waited for some torrential rains but it looks like it did not happen here. Roanoke had some severe flooding but we had some minor flooding by the New River and just got wet. The people on the coast did not have to evacuate their homes but North Carolina sure got pummeled. Love the beach but definitely do not want to live there!
I made a mistake in my last blog on the Specials. They ended Thursday, not Friday. Senior moment. I looked up a chart that compares Alzheimers symptoms with regular old age symptoms and so far I am still on the right side of the chart. I am reading at night to try keep my mind together and I know playing the piano helps. I really need to get back to reading Spanish novels. You have to stay sharp to keep up a foreign language. I have forgotten some words and some grammar so I had better get back to it before I can only say hola. Our library has next to nothing in Spanish. I guess I need to see what I can get on Interlibrary loan.
Anyway, I am hanging in there and painting away! Here is the final stage of Pawleys Island Atmosphere!

Last time I wrote about the different times that Clyde and I go to bed due to our schedules. He is in bed at 9 so he can get up at 4. I stay up to 11:30 and get up at 7:30. Funny thing. Every night at 9 I have an overwhelming desire to go to sleep and then I start to wake up .
I told Clyde that the reason my body wants to go to sleep at 9 is because we are soul mates. He gagged and said we were more like a ship wreck without a ship.
Ha ha! I love to goad him. Wait, did he really say our marriage is like a ship wreck? Oh well. I asked for it. LOL!

Reports of the coming storm keep changing and it is predicted to be the storm of a lifetime so we are all hunkered down and hoping our homes won’t be destroyed. That huge tree right outside the window has me nervous. I hope it does not come crashing down. I have made it this far without a serious tragedy and I hope my good fortune continues.
Someone in India is checking out one of my large paintings. I hope he does purchase it but I will have to get someone to build a wooden crate for me. I wish I could turn back time and make sure the guy that finished our carport knew my crates were not trash. The lumber yard that built them for me closed.
Oh well. Artwork can present a lot of problems but they pale when the weather acts up. We will see soon what this hurricane will do to us. Hoping it is not as strong as predicted.

I used to go to bed at 10:00. I had such a hard time getting to sleep. I don’t sleep well so I thought maybe I am one of those people that need to stay up late so I started to go to bed at 11:30. I can’t stay up later since I have to get up at 7:30. Clyde sleeps like a rock and goes right to sleep at 9:00 since he has to get up at 4:00. I am so tired all the time and wake up several times at night thinking of crazy dreams, mostly dreams about traveling.
I almost always wake up at 5:00 and 6:00. Once in a while I can’t get back to sleep but most of the time I do and I am much more restful when Clyde wakes me up at 7:30. Maybe one of these days when he is retired I will stay up to 1:00 and see if I sleep peacefully to 9:00 or 10:00. I hate to miss the morning hours but I would like to sleep better. Oh well, there are a lot more important things to worry about but I think this sign that is in the public domain is a good one for me.

Wow, my painting progress seems very unimportant in the light of the coming storm! It looks to be quite a devastating one. A local weatherman, Kevin Myatt, is so concerned he said we should pray! Never heard that before from a weatherman.
I am so glad we live in the mountains and on a hill. Hopefully our little home won’t be knocked over or flooded. We have one very large tree out front. I hope it doesn’t land on our house during the high winds.
Oh well, we are stocking up on extra food and water and I think I WILL pray.

For some reason we do not understand, certain channels on our TV disappear and then others appear. Right now a station that we did not have is on and has Star Trek episodes every day. Even though I have seen most of the episodes multiple times and I am not that big of a fan, I like to watch it with Clyde because he usually has some fun comments. Last night we were watching one with the crew stuck on a planet because the transporter would not work.
They have shuttles. I have seen them many times. Why don’t they use them rather than the transporter. Also, if they are stuck, why can’t they send a shuttle down?
Oh Clyde. The shuttles were probably sent out and arrested for parking tickets. Then they were towed away by the Klingons.
I think that is as logical as a machine that can take people apart and then reassemble them elsewhere.
Spock probably would not agree with me.

We have a new mouse zooming all over the screen! It selects, it deletes, it does not send me to another page all by itself! Yea! I guess these mouse things eventually die. The one I called Zippy certainly did. Not sure what to name this one but it is certainly doing it’s job right!

Our phone rings all day long with scam messages. Sometimes the caller is listed as a friend but I have learned not to pick it up. Scammers are using friends names to try to get an answer. I just let the answering machine do its thing.
Clyde said he is surprised these people don’t hijack Santa’s sleigh and come down the chimney after us.
Yikes! Glad we don’t have a chimney!

Clyde is going to get me a new mouse this week and it will not come a moment too soon! I told him we should torture this one before we scrap it. I don’t feel bad about saying that since it is a just a creature in name only. I may at least throw it up against a brick wall. I had to start over four times yesterday on my newsletter because it kept deleting the whole thing when I tried to delete a single word. I started just backing up to delete but then it deleted the words I didn’t want to delete all by itself.
This is the most aggravating computer device I have ever had – bar none!

Shipping costs continue to astound me. This past week I mailed two paintings that were the same size in the same package to addresses in Virginia, not that far from each other. The first one was going to be so high I decided to take a chance and not insure it, a decision I greatly regretted right after I dropped it off. I worried over it and was so glad when the patron contacted me to say it had arrived safely. The next day I insured the second one and the price was less than the other one without insurance. Go figure!
Clyde said the first one was so high because the clerk forgot his lunch and needed a burger.
I doubt that. LOL!

Today my mouse was barely crawling around the screen. I decided to change the battery to see if the new one that was put in recently was bad. Well, the mouse is still up to some tricks – selecting when it wants to and deleting a few emails before I can open them but it isn’t crawling now.
Yea! I guess.

A very unusual site started following me on Twitter. Verse on Wine. A poetry competition with a difference. Now that is different. I told Clyde. I like his response!
A site where everything tastes better and is better, even bad poetry.
Well, I’ll bet bad poetry would sound better with a lot of wine.
No offense to the site. Just joking around!
