I know my camera has some years on it but why can’t I put the name and number in Google and get instructions that I can use. I look up something I need help with and when I follow the instructions the selection that I need in the menu is not there. Are cameras updated without changing the precise name of it? I get so frustrated with all this stuff.
I still use Aperture because I finally figured it out and now I am told it is on the way out so if I do have a question it is almost impossible to find the answer. Youtube no longer has the stabilization feature or the color adjustment feature so now my videos will have a slight shake and the colors will be washed out.
It seems to me I should be able to make those adjustments with my camera but I can’t figure it out. I will check the instruction manual that I got with the camera and hope I can find the answer there.
Of course, I have to find the manual. ARGH!

Life with The Word and Bird Man – Clyde Kessler
We are still swatting mosquitoes. The other night while Spock was trying to destroy a weird creature in a shuttle craft Clyde worked hard to kill a mosquito in our bedroom. I was the scout that kept losing it in the shadows and he was the warrior with the fly swatter.
Finally it landed where I could see it on a door and Clyde got it. We cheered and Clyde went to bed while I did some computer work.
It was going okay when I noticed something in my hair. Of course, it was another mosquito. I lunged at it as it flew away and then disappeared. Later, I was reading a book in the living room and one flew right by me.
I told Clyde the next day it must be a family of them all working together to get us. Yeah, a SUCKY family. I would say argh, but I love puns!
Saw a cute joke about a parent mosquito asking a young mosquito how his first flight went. Great! Everyone was clapping for me!

Hey. Why don’t you just ask a photographer about your camera? Maybe one you sort of know? Like me?
Aperture is already out. But, iPhotos is better and will do whatever you need.

Thanks Ray. The reason I have not asked a photographer is because I figure they work with much more complicated equipment than my not very expensive camera but maybe that would make it like child’s play for you. Here is the question for a Canon Powershot 115IS. Is there a feature that will allow me to stabilize a video. Also, is there a feature that will allow me to correct the color that is washed out when uploaded to Youtube.

All cameras essentially work the same way for video functions. Yes. Auto stabilization is one of the camera’s big selling points. It is supposed to be read the subject an select the proper stabilization setting. If you push the button to shoot video the camera should shoot HD which will correct the color. If that doesn’t work, set the exposure for -.30.

Thanks but as hard as I try, there is still some shake in the video which is why I loved that stabilization tab on Youtube. I will try setting the exposure at -.30 for color. Appreciate the help!

You may have to go old school by using a tripod and a remote. You can likely download a remote to use on your phone. In that way, the camera will be rock solid and you won’t touch it.

Little confused. If the camera is on a tripod, which I do have, how can I move the camera over the paintings which are on different levels. If they are on the save level I will still have to move the tripod to get a good view of each one and it will shake.

I’m a hard time visualizing this, but if it’s what I think you mean, you’d do what film makers do. The camera stay in one place and you move the subject, which is your paintings. Beyond that, the technique gets really complicated with extra tools that you don’t need to buy. Part of the issue is what I use to make motion in my pictures. All of us have a little natural motion shake. What we are trying to do is get the camera out of your hands. The motion shake wouldn’t be there if your videoing something that moved. Make sense?

Thanks Ray but if I have to move the paintings there will still be some shake as I hold the paintings. My paintings are large and awkward to hold. I would rather have them completely still. Anyway, the shake is not that big of a thing. I can hold the camera still enough. The color is another matter and I thank you for your help on that!

Also, I like to take the camera over different parts of the painting which would be real awkward if the camera is stationary. The paintings are just too difficult to manage in my hands and slowly take them over the camera.

In reply to both, you might have to live with it. But, let me check on thing at the Canon website. It could be that there is a subsetting that might give you a little more control.

Thank you so much Ray! I really appreciate your help!

No problem. I learn while I help. I forgot to ask a big question. How are you using the zoom lens? If you use it as a telephoto it magnifies the shake. If you use it closer to wide, it reduces the shake measurably

I don’t use a zoom lens. I hold the camera close to the first painting and then slowly move to the others.

Your camera as a zoom lenses built into it. It’s very likely you have it on.

Yes, it does have one but I have to press a lever at the top right for it to work.

Well, it appears that you have too much natural nodyshake for the camera to overcome. I suppose that all you can do is brace yourself very carefully, shoot as wide as you can…

Thanks Ray! I am just going to have to try to stay very steady. Appreciate all the help!

My pleasure. Try holding the camera with both hands, close to your body.
