When my son was young he liked to write poetry about his experiences with his Dad on bird hikes. One of his teachers asked me to illustrate two for a school fair.
These illustrations and poems are very special to me.
Shadows of Things to Come Original 21″ x 18″ Pastel Painting $5000
Prints on Paper or Canvas and Greeting Cards Available at KENDALL KESSLER ART
Shadow of Things to Come is a portrait of my son, Alan, when he began school. I loosely based this on a photograph. This is my most expressive portrait.
The colors and pastel marks were a frenzy of feeling for my child and his first days at school. I am especially pleased with the color contrast and deep shadow effect.

I love the collaborations with your son! And your husband’s medical-advice addendum sounds familiar: I used to offer a page of class prep information at the beginning of each semester to my university students with my own little ten-commandments, which included “Come to class unless you are dead,” and “If you are dead, call and let me know you will not be attending class.”

Oil painting is the process of painting with pigments that are bound with a medium of drying oil, which is one of the most difficult process to create an artistic piece!

I agree! A lot of artists consider watercolors to be the most difficult medium, but I think oils is more difficult.
