People have been asking me my whole adult life if I have lost weight. I am the same weight I was when I got married. I am not over weight and think I am just right. The only thing I can figure is I am either losing fat and gaining muscle with all my activities or certain clothes just make me look smaller.
It isn’t a bad comment but most people say it with so much enthusiasm that it is hard not to take it as a criticism since they seem to think I should glad.
Oh well. I have always been too sensitive. It is a problem but I think all that sensitivity contributes to the success of my artwork. Cheers!
Yeah–I think most people mean that question as a compliment when they ask it.

I agree. I should not let it bother me.

Well, but I do get the frustration of having people make the same (false) observation over and over again! It may be well-meaning, but sometimes it’s just too much.

I know what you mean. I keep thinking they thought I was fat or they wouldn’t be so enthusiastic when they ask if I have lost weight. I just keep telling myself it is a compliment.

Hahaha! Now I get it. Maybe they think THEY’RE fat and they’re jealous–or trying to give the best compliment they can imagine. 😉

Who knows? I just smile and say no I haven’t lost any weight. I want to say I don’t think I need to but I’ll bet that would offend people.

Probably not. They’d probably be impressed that you weren’t worried about such things. Most people are. But . . . you probably are taking the right approach.

This happens to me and I think somehow people remember me as bigger than I am though I don’t know why on earth that should be! It doesn’t happen so much these days as I lost a lot of weight after breaking my hip a couple of years ago and have not gone back to my usual size. I’m waiting for the reverse question daily!

So sorry to hear about your hip! How awful! Hope you didn’t lose too much!

I lost enough to have the figure I’d always longed for but that didn’t make the doctors very happy so I had to put on a bit before they’d stop nagging! (The worst bit was the dislocation of of the new femur a few weeks later – horrendous!)

How awful that you dislocated a femur! Glad you have the figure you wanted with a little extra. You don’t want to get too thin!
